It is really disheartening that many Nigerians take this loans with no intention of paying back and when the loan companies starts trying to recoup their funds.... Same Nigerians begin to cry foul.

Pay your debts for fu*k sake, if all those before you refused to pay, do you think you'll see anybody to give you emergency loans?
cos they’re serial debtors. You borrow friends money, they refuse to pay. Some Nigerians are very difficult to deal with.

Op this is the strategy. The loan applicant purchases a new sim, store fake contacts then access the loan. After getting the loan. The Sim is retrieved from the phone, he or she enjoys the money. When time is due to pay back only the fake contacts will be contacted. grin

Fear God, Fear Women, Fear Nigerians grin

Why collect loan from them, agree to their terms and conditions and still fail to pay up in due time?

You should understand it's a business they are running and they would definitely deploy all they have to get back their money. What I don't support however is the defamation and cruel manner they go about it.

Someone seeing this would still go ahead to take loan from those companies with no aim or clear cut plan of repayment. We must understand "terms & agreements" and consent in contracts.

Do you in any way read exactly what the op narrated here?....... maybe read again and comment with your real being

Disturbing others and invading their privacy isn't the right way to go about recouping their fund

Madam, a loan defaulter has no image.
Stop wailing and pay up the money you borrowed the company.

They need to pay their staff salaries, rent, fuel their generators, lend money to other customers, etc.

Nigerians like to borrow money but don't like to pay back. If you tell a Nigerian to repay the money you lent them, na insult go follow.

Go and pay up what you borrowed. If this company doesn't use this method, you people will not repay your debt.

Just imagine the advice from Nicepoker. Tomorrow, that one will still go to church or mosque for prayers.

I understand perfectly what the OP is trying to relate.. they have done it to a colleague of mine wherein they sent a defamatory message to the person's contacts including me. Immediately the msg entered my phone, I deleted it sharpaly cos I don't have time for rubbish.

What they do I think is to gain access to their customers phone book through loan app and store their contacts remotely, of course for the purpose of blackmail later..

So my comment wasn't directly to OP but to those eyeing the loan companies to stay off.

Their terms and condition has no weight in any court of law in the world. Owing is a civil matter, tarnishing another persons image is a criminal offence. By sending such messages to their customers contacts they have broken the first maxim of law, ''He who wants equity must come with clean hands''. They have no case in court and that is why they try to coerce you into paying, tell them to forward the case to court and see them go silent.

Forwarding to court isnt the legal action they meant. Forwarding to credit bureau is their legal action against the debtor. That is worse for madam Ifu and friends than court matter. Everytime they try to assess major loans from other institutions, obtain visa, get a good job where thorough background checks are done, they will wish they had paid the coins they owed. Why borrow without paying? Madam Ifu was even defending anti debtor that they are falsely accusing her. Hian!

While I dont support the mailing style, a contract is a contract. Debtors should pay up.

What if one day you wake up only to find out that one of these loan company has posted your details as a fraudster for something you know nothing about.

Ask yourself, how come they keep contacting and threatening people who has no relationship with their debtor ?
For someone to be a guarantor, he has to sign some documents and possibly attach a passport and a personal ID card, i don't know why these loan app don't request for all these just to confirm if there is actually a relationship between the debtor and the guarantor, they won't do any form of verification, when the debtor refuse to pay them their money, they will start threatening an innocent man that his name appeared as a guarantor and that his details will be published as a fraudster.

Their level of unprofessional is mind blowing, they just want to collect their money by all means, saying shit like your name appeared as a guarantor to see if the guarantor N80,000 will pay the money on behalf of the debtor even though he does not know the debtor personally and did not sign any guarantors form for anybody.

This line has been calling me (012271647) that one afon nwa collected loan and has defaulted and as a guarantor I am liable and can face the law,

I don't know how a person can be a guarantor without knowing.

I have never requested for a loan in my life. How can the loan company be sending messages to random contact if not through the process I posted. In life always learn to observe, think, then come up with a reasonable analogy.

Nor mind those useless loan company, the people who support them do not understand, every single Nigerian is at risk of being embarrassed for something they know nothing about. I think they know what they are doing, maybe if they follow the normal process of requesting for a guarantor, it'll discourage their customers/victims. That is why they just accept any guarantor provided by their customers without any form of verification with the hope that they can threatening the guarantor to pay on behalf of the debtor if the debtor default. They are very useless people, those loan apps are thieves, all they care about is collecting their money, they do not care if the person they are collecting it from didn't borrow any money from them.

So you mean someone that knows your name and phone no can just give it to a loan company as a guarantor? Without signing anything?

Or maybe they are even calling all the contacts randomly telling them they are guarantors.

I don't even understand sef.
