Deeper Life church’s founder, Rev. William Kumuyi has reacted to claim of lowering his church’s “standard of holiness” following the people he invited for a program.

Recall that a former Deeper Life Pastor, Gideon Akande had called out Kumuyi for inviting 'Philistines' to a program in the church.

The Philistines according to Mr Akande are renowned entrepreneur and former Chairman of First Bank of Nigeria, Ibukun Awosika, gospel singer, Dunsin Oyekan, and co-founder of Andela, Iyinoluwa Aboyeji.


Reacting to the claim, Kumuyi stated that he only invited people who are experts in their fields and who can connect to young people who the program is meant for.


He also stated that he shouldn’t be looking at if those invited are members of his church, but rather at if they will impact and make young people greater than them in their field.

Kumuyi further claimed that those accusing his church of lowering standard of holiness do not know the caliber of people who were invited, but are only judging them based on their own understanding and appearance.

The Pastor also said though there is freedom of speech in the country, some people speak from an “undeveloped mind”.

"Undeveloped minds" Yeah, it waz kinda funny. But I agree with him coz the program especially the time when Ibukun Awosika spoke, was very good. Infact the entire program waz succesful.

Now, the deeper life church wants to be teaching business, entrepreneurship etc

You can't teach these topics effectively with bible alone and by pastors, evangelists, prophets

So you hire speakers from outside
Beg "successful" professionals from outside

Now is this bad?
No!

What we should watch out for is that it doesn't overshadow the primary purpose of the church.
That we don't turn Sunday service to another business seminar in the name of "we want our youths to be corporately relevant"

They haven't got the least idea of what it means to lower the standard of holiness if so.

Pastor Kumuyi is trying to get it right in areas he got it wrong at first.

So kudos to him.

Kudos to him? Think of the people whose life he has negative and permanently affected over the years. Those he asked not to accept particular job offers because they were not in line with his version of christianity, those children affected psychologically by denied chance to watch entertainment tv with friends and those he told to refuse medical care and rely only on prayers. If he want to change he should come out and apologise first.

Of course you so-called atheists claim you don't believe God exists, yet you still mock and call the depiction of God in the Bible wicked and so evil, so can't expect anything better from you.

Listen, Salvation isn't just receiving Jesus but becoming all that He designed you to be.
He could have as well invited you so we hear what you have to offer, since the people he invited are from outside and you're from inside.
