Point of correction, AD is still in existence and Tinubu didn't hijack AD.

What really happened was that some leaders of the AD led by Senator Mojisoluwa Akinfenwa with inducement from Obasanjo were delibrately causing problems in the party by forming parallel party Excos with two different chairmen.

The Bisi Akande Faction which Tinubu belonged to resigned en mass from AD in 2005 to form ACD which later received some Northern groups to transform into ACN in 2007.
