Starved of what? Who's gonna pass to him with the wrong passing lanes he creates

It's not even about pressing. Lukaku kept making the wrong movement today. When he doesnt, he becomes static like a pole.

TT better make the big call and drop him in the interim
He will. I don't think he'll start the next match.

Nah this is extremely one sided. Mention one pass that he should have received that he did not? Lukaku is a target man striker. He is useless when he does not play to his strength.

Please Lukaku is not an idiot or a non league striker that cannot move into good positions. You team creates nothing for him. Even Lewandowski won't do anything with this kind of set up.

Graham Potter ran circles around TT this season. It has to be said.

I'll give you one.

That Ziyech pass he was moaning about (which was overhit by the way), You do realize he made the wrong movement (away from goal), yet had the guts to complain. Check the replays, you'll see what I'm talking about

Which target man striker?

He losses a large percentage of long balls to opposing defenders.

Even the man has said it countless times that he hates playing with his back to the goal. Which other target man striker do you know who hates playing with their back to the goal? I'm waiting

I saw that pass and if he made an in run he would have been off. Ziyech overhit the pass. Simple.

He hates playing with his back to goal when in a root one tactic. He played with his back to goal here and there for Inter but primarily he will run behind defenders, make in and wide runs to help his 8 or 10 come in and he will take on defenders here and there. A more evolved target nine like Lewandowski not the archaic target men we have always known.

Let's cut out the "ifs" now, shall we?

Besides, that was the obvious one. There were others I noticed. I paid attention to the movements in the game

Kante gave away more balls today than I have ever seen a Chelsea player do in a single game yet this one chooses the same game to bash Jorginho on the same matter
Kantes 85% pass success disagrees with you. He misplaced some wack long balls, true, something Jogginghoe hardly tried. We have seen much worse pass percentage success in this Chelsea team including Jogginghoe who posted 79% against this same Brighton just two weeks ago.

1st pic, Jogginghoe 79% pass completion two weeks ago against this same opposition, 2nd pic Kante 85% today

BTW, Jogginghoe had only attempted 18 passes as of half-time to Kantes 37. Was it his intention to give Brighton confidence and allow them grow into the game? Admittedly he stepped it up in the 2nd half, but maybe you can tell us the intention behind that first half lack of involvement.

Not never, but less than expected.

I saw quite a few from Kovacic in 10 mins than I recall from Jogginghoe today.

I played the "if" because that is what a thinking player would do and the person who got it wrong was Ziyech which is why Lukaku berated him for overhitting it. Ziyech does that alot.

The problem is that you always demand, expect, and decide results outside of prevailing circumstances. It's like you are not living in the very moment. We have our wing backs off injured, Havertz (not 100% and only in last minute because of Lukaku) and Werner off for extended periods. Kante and Kovacic playing their first full 90mins in forever, and the whole world now focused on Chelsea after our £100m striker detonated a nuclear bomb in the camp.

But let's live under a rock and assume these things are not happening in our life time. Let's just demand more because we are passionate.
So what is the prevailing circumstances today ? grin grin

Players adapt to managers tactics .. aguero did wen pep came, lukaku has no excuse for not being mobile enough, mount non existent .. our press poor till the subs came with the off the ball movemnts, we had to back pass.. TT is experiencing the same thing lampard did at albeit drawing games than losing games ..when u dont have a constant front 3..

Perhaps. Perhaps I haven't been paying enough attention.

He should've improved by now. The way he teases with the ball, he looks like he can give defenders serious problems 1 v 1...but he just keeps backing away.

Pulisic too has lost his flair. At least I can confidently say he was a very good dribbler, but he also seems to back down from 1v1s these days.
As far as 1 v 1 dribbling goes, na only Kovacic and RLC we fit count. And RLC is often aimless with it.

I am not contending that but I don't even think Lukaku's issue is about not adapting. I just feel teams have Chelsea sussed out. Lukaku is not the major issue in these past few games even though he has been poor.

One win in seven games; no win in the last four sad

The game against Spurs is a must win for several reasons; we've got to put an end to our current barren run, we've got to consolidate on our top four place and at the same time, put the brakes on Spurs' charge.

If they win, the gap between us closes to 8 and they still have FIVE games in hand. Arsenal, Man U and even West Ham may also be within touching distance.

Sunday na do or die
Re: Official Chelsea Fan Thread: Club World Cup Champions 2025-2029 by Ibime(m): 12:12am On Jan 19, 2022
I won't argue whether Lukaku makes the right runs because I remember how the lovers of shekpe-keeper (Torres) used to argue he's always making runs and nobody is looking for him, when it was obvious that Torres was drained of confidence and hiding from making runs after some glaring misses.

What I know is that Lukaku knows how to make runs as evidenced by his goal record for club and country. I don't know whether he made the right runs this particular game as I did not see much overloads on the wings, or breaking of the lines from midfield that would prompt a striker to start making runs. We can only be talking about runs to initiate a long ball from the centre backs or DM which Rudiger gave him one today and that was it.

Two teams sacked you in 4 years.

Dortmund and PSG.

Man is so awful and embarrassing with relationships with players. Always falling out with his key players.

No creativity
Not adventurous
No new ideas
No proper tactical switch
No quick sub decision

Just there with his dagbo cap and shrinking cheek losing points.
