In those 7yrs - Kenya GDP has grown from 60B to 110B.
RSA GDP is stuck at 350B.
In 2014 - Kenya GDP was 9 times less.
Now it three times less.
Now I know you have very bad education
But surely if you use simple projection - the next 15yrs - Kenya GDP could rise to 350B
And South Africa will remain stuck at 330B.

Two important concepts you need to grasp
1) Middle Income/class trap in South Africa.
2) Leapfrogging happening in Kenya. Kenya is nearly nailing all the key ingredients for take off. Economic growth is not linear..most of the time it assume hockey stick shape......then it plateaus..like South Africa and even crash.

There are pre-conditions that a country need to meet - before it get lift off ground. It's like flying a plane....you stay on the running away until you're overcome driff and you vroom! like Uganda finance minister once exclaimed

This what happened in South Asian tigers. This is how China has taken off. Veitnam is happening as we speak. Kenya could be next.

you've made this same ret@rded statement over and over firstly SAs gdp nominal is $410 billion after its rebase.....

Also where is Kenya?

I see middle class estate. Few big houses but general estate is middle class. It's not upper class. But of course being a primitive west african that is too much for your brain.
This area alone will eat up all your prime estates combine..and it's not an estate but an entire community of rich people high earners.

your *Muthiaga will be a normal neighborhood here ... Comparable to a low income area like say SCC hills.

That is what primitivity has made you guys ... Celebrate over basic grin

In GDP terms though, #DRCongo adds 23%, pushing EAC up from $238bn to $294bn.
Kenya is still top. It was 46% of the East African Community (2021 GDP estimate) and becomes 37% with #DRCongo joining. Kenya and Uganda together are half the economic size of the EAC after DRC joins.

What is retarded is that South Africa GDP was 410B in 2010 - and you're causing chaos online to be back to 410.
You're in middle class rut.
There is no where you're going in next decade.
Unless you have fixed issues that held you back last decade.

I just wish other states can develop more also so that the people surging into Lagos everyday can stay back in their own States.

The team ain't Useless but the GFA is.

And yes, it will very soon be a political suicide for any govt to give money to the GFA..
They camped in Qatar because GFA hasn't built a great camping village despite all of FIFA money and govt money.
The biggest casualties here are the Ayew brothers. I was thinking they would be able to do something their papa couldn't do, win the Afcon.
It's not probable Andre will be at the next Afcon.

The beauty of having well diversified economy - domestic tourism save kenya tourism sector in 2021.

Kenya Tourism update 2020 v. 2021:

Passenger flight landings +44% to 59,486

Visitor arrivals +53% to 870,467

Inbound receipts +65% to Sh146.5 bn

However, Q1 2021 tourism earnings were just 43% of Q1 2020.

The bulk of hotel bed nights recovery was from DOMESTIC TOURISM.

If we shake up the GFA, they won't even get call ups to the black stars.. because there are better players there, waiting for Ghana to call them.

Yes KAIST is great move - hope more research institution will go to Konza - and then tech companies - that would create a silicon valley like synergy.

Yes! Dedan Kimathi uni Nyeri has an operational semiconductor factory since last year.

Uhuru opens semiconductor chips factory in Nyeri
https://nation.africa/kenya/news/uhuru-opens-semiconductor-chips-factory-in-nyeri-3377582?view=htmlamp

What IDK is what level exactly they're at. I can't find anything on their capacity or process tech.

The global value chain is monopolised by the US, starting with the first step of research and development, followed by the second step in Asia where the silicon ingots are cut into wafers.

In the third step the blank wafers are completed as finished wafers in the US, then in the fourth step the finished wafers are cut into dies in the US. In step five the dies are assembled, tested and packaged in Asia.

From there in step six the final product is shipped for inventory to China, where it is integrated into step seven as a consumer good by end-product assembly and it is shipped to the US in step eight for end product marketing to the global customer.
https://www.iol.co.za/business-report/opinion/opinion-global-semiconductor-market-ripe-and-ready-25181433

The beginning of a potential hi tech ecology already exists. Other players particularly now with a world wide chip shortage will take a closer look at Kenya and Konza.

thiba irrigation scheme

Btw,this will increase the urbanisation of Mwea massively! There's a place I passed by recently on the Sagana highway and was shocked-last time I was there was maybe 2006 or 07. Nice Digital City. 3 star hotel, gas station, gyms and restaurants all built off Thiba irrigation scheme,or rather the rice harvest. They began processing the rice and moved into hospitality: iow an urban area was developed off of the rice biz, leveraging off harvesting, selling, trading, transporting and packaging of rice.

Current production is about 25,000 acres which is one crop per year and it is being expanded to 35,000 acres for two crops per year.
It will be expanded through construction of the Thiba dam which is being built in Kirinyaga county at a cost of Sh8.2 billion.
https://www.the-star.co.ke/counties/central/2021-08-30-state-declares-mwea-irrigation-scheme-a-success-story/

Expect the entire area of Mwea to be a mini Kitengela, soon to be a municipality in 5 years!

Edit:
Construction of Thiba Dam in Kenya, which will help secure the year round water supply for the country’s agriculture. The 40 m tall and 1 km long dam being built about 130 km northeast of the Kenyan capital of Nairobi creates a reservoir that will allow a second harvest every year in the surrounding cultivable area.

Just remembered a dam of that size makes commercial cage farming of tilapia, black bass, catfish and carp very very viable!

Waffas, observe how stats are collated by the relevant authority mainly from airport traffic, hotel receipts, immigration entry and exit points etc, etc. There are people whose sole function is to collate and interrogate such stats unlike you guys where recently released Sakawa boys and Okadamen are labelled as tourists stumbling off the plane in Accra,Abuja and Lagos.

Rice production goes up in Nigeria ( I know the gluttony little Indians are salivating at this)

And oil prices hit $87+ (Remember how the little Indians always rejoice when oil prices drop)

Nigeria's economy should really grow this year on the back of agriculture, services and oil.
