How are the poor commercial drivers meant to survive if they can pass any of the cost to passengers? That means they have an additional N800 to pay each day and not that is not including daily membership extortion fees to MC Oluomo and his boys, police, army and Lastma.

This is the legacy of Lagos the agbero state.

From N3,000 to N800 naira. That should be commendable. Any driver that then increase the Tfare is wicked

Did u care to know how much.Tinubu collects via MC OLUOMO in the name of Union dues?

Each time I use a bus from Ajah to Lekki, I keep asking the drivers how they make gain, especially those that balance for people, thats one the reasons I sold off my bus i gave somebody for hire purchase .

Tinubu have just added to the burden of the hapless masses.

The more reason he wont be president.

Seriously the commissioner for information that issued this press statement needs to take a trip in a commercial bus from lkorodu to Mile 2 to experience the torture commercial bus drivers experience every day in the hands of this crazy, rudderless,blood-thirsty, murderous elements called NURTW,RTEAN Aka agberos.
How can any government that was given a Mandate to rule by around 400000 people be subservient to a group less than 40000 in number.
Why will any state government concede its authority to these rascals and touts for whatever reason.
This touts collect the money for 2 passengers anytime a bus is filled with passengers and leaves a bus stop, ditto for Keke marwa and the popular korope or 7 seater, and wow betide any driver who refuses to pay this useless touts their fare.
Enough of this madness, Mr Sanwo olu,you weren't elected to pamper these touts, and if Tinubu,Sanwo olu and their cohorts believe these touts deserved to be pampered, then it shouldn't be at the expense of the hard working citizens of Lagos State.
My solution to these madness called tax levy that's about to be unleashed on hard working lagosians is for Sanwo-olu to act like a governor and declare that from Feb 1 any agbero collecting money outside a recognized park should be arrested and detained,it's robbery for these agberos to collect money at all major bus stop in Lagos,I don't understand why Union activities should take place at every bus stop in Lagos.
Sanwo-olu should start acting like a governor.

The tfare will increase no matter what anybody says because you can't expect the drivers to add an additional #800 with the already so much extortion from the routs daily...

No. The sum what drivers used to pay in local government dues, garage cleaning dues, Ministry of transport dues and LASEPA used to be up to ₦3,000.

Now, the ₦3,000 has been moved into one single price of ₦800 which is a reduction in price so any driver who charges more is just been greedy.

Get it?
you people still believe what government says in this country? What sense does it make to warn driver not to increase transport fare when you are about to reduce the taxes they pay daily?

You are right. They make a load shit of money. That's how oluomo can keep his children in America. Unfortunately, d govt can't get rid of agberos. They are bigger than the govt. In the link below, the govt is begging them not to be unlawful

[quote author=headSmasher 1post=109609720] All governmental dues been harmonised, no more multiple n]

There is nothing like harmonized, I do transport business but stopped, I do buy for driver, one this is been sincere with this now lemme break it down to you, council on uniform will issue out 100naira ticket to you, which you will pay, this agbero will issue out a ticket to you, like 3 ticket which you will see #200 naira on the ticket but they will collect 4k to 5k in a park from the drivers. I don't know how it won't affect us cos mc oluomo quickly come out to pass a message that this levy won't affect their own dues, now the tout always claim the exorbitant charges they charged is to maintain the road, clean the park and so many things , now that the govt said they will do it, what's the function of the tout.. As long as the tout still charge I'm sorry we are in for a long thing cos it will affect us all.

Well since they say it's only for interstate vehicles and it's cheaper that the amount they pay before it seems okay.

When u see me speak against Tinubu presidency, not because I hate him, but because I have seen his administrative template in Lagos and it is not favourable to hapless masses.

Every agency in Lagos is on over drive to raise funds for his selfish presidential ambition. Extortion all round, Agberos being more powerful than the government.

You mind your business but you want Tinubu to.pilot the affairs of over 200 million Nigerians?

Honestly, I find it extremely hard to believe how commercial bus drivers survive with the levies. Though, I keep writing Tinubu and his sharks generated funds in Lagos, but this is a point I so much dislike him, and it is the reason the prayers of those against him will come to pass. He is just making everything hard. In markets, parks, and other public places, he just keeps adding more fees, fines, and craz.y ways of extorting Lagosians. Seriously speaking, this is wrong. I just wish someone who is competent can come up. But it is just sad Nigeria isn't a high intellectual human capital. Most are not smart and are easily controlled. No good person will get to a public seat easily. Only terrible and thieves always get there. And same people who complain of hunger are the same who vote for their oppressors. It always beat my imagination.

I have been bashing ibos not because I hate them, but to make them get serious and face this issue squarely. I wish they can just bring on board a good person. Really, we dont need a politician, but a technocrat who is also brutal. We need to erect mobile courts everywhere to send people to jail fast. Of course, we must invest in jails with the mindset of converting them to commercial centers later cos crime will eventually decrease and the structures cannot be idle. As in we need prisons in even every local govt...just do rubbish, and you are in jail. And those jails must be for reorientating and reeducating people. Places where they learn new skills. I want to see computerized jails. We let them even know their rights and teach them how to vote. Even, those old people should be sent to jails. It wont be like real jails, but places where people are made to start thinking like normal people.

What am I saying? There will be massive people who will submit themselves willing to go to such jails. I have this vision. Seriously, yes.

If these bus drivers are normal people, they can fight this battle well. But they arent all normal. They are terrible disgusting peoole, and it is why Tinubu and his boys can use them anyhow. Same with market people. Seriously, if just 10% of bus drivers in Lagos put together just one day levy of N3,000 each and pay a good lawyer, they will win so many cases on ground. But they are all terrible people themselves. At times, I don't pity them cos if you had had encounter with them, you will know. As a matter of fact, I do not use those means of transport anymore, and I dont even drive in Lagos. The traffic is too craz.y to think of it. I will rather use Uber or BRT (Lagos State government official transport system).

If you try to organize these touts called bus drivers to fight government, they are the same who will back-stab you. So, I dont pity them at all.

And truly, cos of that N800 increment, they will hype transport fare. Seriously, let me tell you the truth. Those bus drivers are always praying for such fees increment so they can use it as excuses to charge craz.y fees. Lol. When I was young, I used to take those buses from my high school to my house. Mehn! I so much hated them. Bless my parents who used to take me in comfortable car in the mornings. But returning home is a heck of pain. Where uber in those days? Lol. I had to do everything in me to not have prejudice against those hooligans called drivers and conductors. If I mention my high school, I know more than 80% of matured ppl here will know it cos it was very popular in those days, and still has such a high standard.

We need to start building special mobile "sharp sharp" courts and reorientational jails to save us from corrupt politicians in public officials and hooligans on our roads

Anyway. We mooooveeeee!

Nigeria!! SMH

A lot of people here don't even understand how this thing works. The real dues out there drivers are saddened with are union dues. The N3000 mentioned above is mainly to union collected by numerous touts for numerous purposes.

Many drivers have a way of evading these other government levies. So now it is an extra payment no matter how you look at it and it is the masses that will suffer it. Everything they're saying up there is story. This is still Lagos.

Is it that most of you are not in touch with reality to even believe that story? All levies to drivers are collected under one umbrella (union) and 85% of it goes to Union. What drivers pay currently to LGA is less than #800 so any extra payment will be transfered to commuters.

Yes, the idea is to harmonise all LGA payments they make at different garages, but this is IMPOSSIBLE in reality. This is still Lagos. Agbero is King and their ticket is Law. When government introduce electronic settlement of these levies, then I'll believe they are serious.
