This one Asphalt has started scraping already, soon it will collapse before commissioning.

Good to see the pedestrian side walk is being considered, but one would've think it's supposed to cover th drainage.

It seems simple things are no longer simple. Why can't the government include the covering of drainages in road construction contracts? That alone will give many streets a modern look.

I keep wondering ooo, I advocated for it strongly at government social media pages, even the urban renewal project only covers about 500m walkway to and fro the remodeled junctions

Please, there is an "Imopoly" kwo? I've not seen anything about that school on this thread. Does it no more exist?

I want to state that one way Imo government can look towards the development of our higher institutions is to allow individuals come in. People, organizations like banks, companies, e.t.c, can build structures and have it named after them, while hostels can be a private-public investment, where people build STANDARD hostels inside the school and pay a particular amount per year to the school, like land use charge.

This way, government will concentrate more on making the environment look good and payment of salaries, while lecturers concentrate on upgrading themselves
This is the former imopoly campus at Umuagwo, the school has been relocated to Omuma, with campuses at Orlu (former TESAI) and Ehime Mbano.

This open gutter thing is not only a national problem, but a national disgrace as well! More than 60 years after the British colonialists left, we still can't construct major and inner-city streets without underground drainages, sidewalks and plant trees! Even if the drainage system would be surface gutters, why can't they cover them up?

I have to admit, Owerri is the city in the south-east....and possibly the entire southern Nigeria with the exception of Lagos, that has the most number of exquisite and eye-ctaching mansions and duplexes. But what lets the city down is the lack of....or poor state of the inner-city roads. Though i've noticed the effort the present state gov't is making in road construction in Owerri (makes you wonder exactly which roads Rochas built during his 8 year tenure)!

Take a look at the nice houses in this new estate. This should be the 3rd highbrow estate in Owerri i'm showcasing on this thread...previously was Udenwa estate and one other one i can't remember the name now. Of the 3, only Udenwa estate has a half-decent road network while this one i'm attaching on this post has the absolute worst.

Is it possible that, in future, the Imo state gov't could borrow a leaf from the way Awka Millenium City is doing theirs, by first constructing the inner road network and providing other services like electricity, water pipes and cabling, before the construction of houses by plot owners begins.

The architecture of some of these mansions, and even their walls and gates, are so top notch.

Any update on the court judgement on the disputed oil wells? Wasn't judgement delivered about a week ago?
Re: Few Pics From Imo State by Ofodirinwa: 3:14am On Jan 28, 2022
Rochas was 'building roads' up and down too. But both hope and rochas are building trash that will have to be rebuilt by the next person and the next person.

The estate is called Rosewood estate, it's privately owned, though I agree with your assertions.

But this is a rich neighborhood, so the owners of those houses can afford to fix their own road since government is not willing to do so.

A common trend in Lagos now - especially on the island axis - is for the residents (both landlords and tenants) to contribute and interlock their estate roads. Rich Owerri residents should follow suit since government is almost non-existent in Imo State.

But then, I am a bit worried that many estates we see on this thread are often for wealthy people. One wonders what kind of job or business people will be doing in Imo State to be able to afford those luxury apartments. Apparently, the developers give specs of houses they want around the neighborhood like they do in Lagos.

However, I want to see these real estate developers and the ministry of housing take a cue from what Lagos State government is doing (as shown in the pix). Build multistorey blocks of flats to save lands instead of having mushroom houses scattered all over the place. Gov. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu is really interested in housing and he is wasting lands in Enugu with small low-cost estates as opposed to building multistorey blocks of flats to save lands. This makes no sense.

That estate is privately owned, I support your assertion of multi storey estate, it will save lands. Though I have been hearing of proposed low cost and luxury estate by Imo state housing corporation, I which it will multi storey estate.
FG is doing something like that at Obinze shaa
