I'll just tell you a little experience about myself. My ex cheated on me I suspected then I asked her but she didn't tell me, after sometime she confessed. Meanwhile, we were both students then and it was exam period I forgave her because I wanted us both to concentrate not like it came from my heart at that present moment but I felt we both needed at that time. She got settled but I didn't. I couldn't even assimilate well. In short I had 4 carryovers that year. The worst is that she still dropped my sorry ass. Main reason why I said he shouldn't forgive her because of pressure but must be something that comes from his mind wholeheartedly.

"Her case, her state of coma is a very severe and critical one. We've done everything medically possible, but no headway. Right now, I charge you to believe in God and for a miracle, that is, if you believe in Him and it", the female doctor said to the Oyedeles in her office. They responded with grief and despair.

"I noticed she calls a name, Richard. Who's he?", She asked. Fredrich sighed and replied,

"He's her lover. They had issues which plunged her Into a deep state of depression that affected her health and led to this". The doctor pondered for a while and said,

"This may be unconventional, but I think this Richard guy is the miracle we're looking for. He's her ticket out of this state. This is a matter of the heart. She went into this state of coma because of him, only him can bring her out of it. I don't know whatever issues they have or had, I advise you get him. Cases like this, this is always the way out. I've dealt with some in the past"

"Tell me sir, if I was the one that cheated, how would you have reacted", Richard asked Fredrich. The duo are in Richard's living room.

"To be truthful with you son, I would react terribly and do things despicable"

"Why?"

"Because you had the guts to cheat on an Oyedele. A slap on our face. Class comes into play you know"

"Funny how life is ........"

"Yes, funny how life is, making my daughter the infidel one. You know, this whole saga has taught me a lesson", he paused and stared at Richard who sat on a couch while he stands.

"Anyone irrespective of class can be guilty of infidelity, and reacting despicably is not always the way, especially in the case of geniune remorse, repentance and love. Yes, my daughter messed up, but she's sorry. Please forgive and make up with her. I urge you as a man, father and in law. She loves you so much"

"I know, and that's where the problem lies....."

"My daughter is in a state of coma. A state she's in because of you", Fredrich cut off Richard with a raised voice.

"Coma!!!!!", he said alarmed.

"Yes, she yearned for your love, forgiveness and acceptance, because of that she went into depression which affected her health resulting in it. In her comatose state, she calls your name, Richard. Yes, that's the word she utters now and then. Please give her what she desperately desires. Your forgiveness, acceptance and love is the only way for her. Please save my daughter, I beg of you", Fredrich said to a stilled Richard.

"Richard", he called without any response from him. Alarmed, he shook his stilled frame while calling, more like, screaming his name.

"Why was I so confused?", Richard asked no one in particular suddenly drifting back to consciousness.

"Why did I let things get to this point? Why the complication and unforgiveness from me even in the face of geniune remorse? Am I this heartless and unforgiving? I refused giving her what she only and deeply wanted from me. Now, I'm about to lose something precious because of my stupidity and so called confusion", he said absent minded. He stood and faced Fredrich.

"She doesn't deserve my forgiveness, I deserve hers. I'm the cheat here. What do you say about that, dad in law"

Seeing her in such terrible state made him weak, crazy, angry and guilty. He couldn't believe he had a hand in this. He never for once thought things would and could escalate to this point.

"Richard". He heard her call in her comatose state. Hearing his name from her lips made him insane, it ate him up. Her family stared at him longily, expectantly and in suspense. His legs shook and gave way, making him rest his weight on his knees. He bent his head downward, his hands on his face, he sobbed quietly, masses of tears streaming down his cheeks. Suddenly, he screamed in pain, emotional pain. He raised his head and looked at Angela. He knee walked towards her. He held her left hand with both hands of his and placed his head on them, his tears soaking them.

"My priceless jewel. My divinely ordained eternal partner. I know you can hear me. Sometime ago, I promised to love you eternally, but I saw myself reneging on that promise, that vow. What's love if there's no forgiveness. It's said you cheated but no, I'm the one that cheated. I cheated you, I cheated the universe, I cheated on our love, I cheated myself. I couldn't keep to my vow even though you were geniunely remorseful. You love me deeply, a love I caricatured. I couldn't give you what you wanted, my love, forgiveness and acceptance. You don't deserve my forgiveness, rather, I deserve yours. I'm the wrong one, you're the wronged partner here. I'm so sorry, please forgive me and I come back to me. I love you Angela. Please come back to me. Remember the future, life, kids and home we dreamt, hoped and planned to have, please don't let it be shattered. Come back to me, I need you, our love needs you, our relationship needs you, our life needs you, our future needs you. Please come back, come back to me, to us, for us", he said in tears and cried heavily.

He kissed her hand and placed his head on it. He remained like that for a long time, the ward been tense and quiet, apart from the beeping of the cardiac monitor and sobs by him and certain members of the Oyedeles. The atmosphere was saturated with sadness, grief and pain.


"Richard", Angela called weakly and inaudibly. He was startled and alarmed at the faint and slow movement of her hand. He raised his face and stared at it. He moved his gaze to her face.

"Richard", she called giving him a weak stare. A faint smile cut across her lips.

"Angela", he called joyfully cupping her face. Her family, those left in the ward, on hearing and seeing that rushed to her, gladness and relief surging through them.

"I love you", she said weakly to him.

"I love you also. I'm sorry", he said to her.

"Me too". Reflexly, he engaged her in a deep and passionate kiss to the joy of her family.
