I used to criticize Kovacic for being a poor passed of the ball for all his dribbling skills but not anymore, he has improved his passing and is now a better with raking long balls and defense splitting passes...Even Kante produces jaw dropping passes albeit not on a regular basis...

If I was asked to rate Chelsea midfielders based on their passing abilities, I'd rate Kovacic higher than Jorginho with Kante not far off Jorginho in 3rd...

NB: My position is based on the eye test...

I've seen u talk about how we need a cam that can shot or create chance, i ve said same here ..if that can be solved i think the midfield conundrum we have been having for years will be eased. kova and kante role is almost similar in the current setup and they lack being decisive with the ball. i think that's one thing we lack in the team. most a times we have to work the ball from the defense before our wingers get involved and by then the opposition has almost regrouped were as a good Cam will spot them and put the ball into space for them to run unto that's one reason james and chillwell are integral to the team because of the extra numbers in the middle and the chances they create

Jorginho is no doubt the better passer between them. However kovacic seems to have really improved this season, I just want him to add goals and assists to his game.
Kovacic plays a more advanced role just like kante, when you compare their stats to players who play the same roles for other top teams like Kdb, kroos, Bruno etc. Their numbers fall apart. Kovacic\kante are lacking in creativity.
