Slayar:Dumb Back in the days in school, I read Northern Nigeria is arid (arid is it fertile)? Southern Nigeria has arable land (fertile land) That the government is pushing money there for them to be able to use chemicals (Fertilizers) to reduce our life span doesn't mean there land is fertile (reason for the money from government though, just to have an input on the oneness nonsense) I produce food so I have the right to counter you. I'm from South |

Iyaebe:North is arid South is Arable The government's attention is just focused there. Whatever you think they produce if the government pushes $, South will produce with quarter of that $ But would the government do that? NO |

A lot of ignorance on this thread shows that people don't really know what is going on in Nigeria. Imagine someone saying which Cocoa does Nigeria produce. Nigeria is the 3rd largest Cocoa producer in West Africa, behind Ghana and Ivory Coast. Cocoa production is a southern venture with the SW and SS actively involved. We were producing a peak volume of 235,000 tons annually before GEJ left office with plans to scale to 1 million tons. 1 ton of Cocoa is sold at $2500 currently on the international market. Buhari came to power and the federal ministry of agriculture discarded these plans. And they focused on Rice production which is majorly done in the North. Which commodity has the capacity to earn more foreign exchange? Cocoa. You could even develop both Rice and Cocoa as regional cash crops, but one was neglected while the other was proclaimed on rooftops while at the end of the day the price of one bag has tripled to over N20,000 in 2021 from N9000 in 2015. Meanwhile, a CBN governor with no business in creating national investment does the job of the finance minister and the job of the minister of trade and investment. So, if you see people clamoring for their own country it is because development is NOT a Nigerian agenda, CORRUPTION IS THE NIGERIAN AGENDA.

Obagreatdatoye:No need to remove Lagos, I have said it earlier that the revenue generated by FG from oil in south south is more than the revenue generated by all states of the federation in a fiscal year. Try and get any statement of cashflow of the FG in year 2020 - 2021 and study the cash receipt (revenue) section. Let me try if there is a way I can get it and upload it for you. Then if you wish to remove Lagos State, your region is nowhere near North Central or North West not to talk of South South. |

So you feel if the North is not there, the South would starve? Is the food free? How do you mean feed? We can always get better cheaper rice from Thailand, better cheaper beef from Argentina etc Iyaebe: |

DMerciful:hatred and bigotry is bad. Does Nigeria have enough FX to be buying food stuff from thailand or brazil. Its people whose region contribute next to nothing that cry all over nairaland mostly |

babasolution:this is a state that gets huge faac allocations and 13% derivation. But its water board buys water from abo ki. If they had all the oil money it will still be looted, used to import foreign babes and drink ogogoro. Southern leaders are worse than northern ones. North is not your problem you hear.

babasolution:its not good to lie. Compare akwa ibom with bayelsa. Just 2 billion different. But we can various projects in akwa ibom and not bayelsa. Hatred for the north will get una no where

The cars we are driving, the machineries we're using, the electronics, clothes etc are they from the North? Are they not imported? If Nigeria breaks up, the SW, SS and SE will not miss the North, infact they'd be better for it. ednut1: |

Oghene1st:any yoruba can become a governor in any yoruba state. Yorubas are one. So it doesnt matter whether awori or ijebu or egun so far they are yoruba. All these your ranting doesnt change the fact that lagos is in south west. We didn't force you to invest in lagos because last time i checked lagos is not nigeria's capital |

Veggieseedies:However they get their food produce doesn't matter, they produce food at a cheaper rate . Fertile land in the south or not is another debate for another day. What is the volume / quantity of tomato / onion production in the south? Note, I'm Yoruba . I'm for the West, but if I see truth I will say it. |

This is one reason I hate the stupidity of the South East and South South. Check everything you eat today which one is not from north? The beaf, tomato, water melon, rice, pepper, onion ram, Gold, Suger Cain, cucumber, grape, apple, the north is more productive than the south, in oil is the south is own by the northers because no body in the south has money to sponsor oil exploration operations. South East has nothing they are contributing to Nigeria NOTHING. NO city in the entire south East or South South can compete with the northern cities, Kano, Kaduna, gombe, meduguri, Borno, Jos, Katsina, etc. South East always deceiving themselves |

Slayar:To prove this point We are going to run this through practically, arid vs Arable Day to day update or weekly basis, any northerner in the house I challenge you. No fertilisers, nothing but you can get your government help as usual or you can have a portion as the control of your experiment. No cheating. We starting next two weeks from cutting, weekly updates preferrable and a crop we both can lay hands on NB: I'm of the South it's not about hatred for North but to prove before the argument of wether you have a fertile land or not or just using fertilizers to kill us in this corntree in the name of food production. I guess the produce has been named My nairaland friend MalcolmX, we have been through this before, can we? |

[Are you not paying for the food? Did they give you their food free? If the north is not there won't you import the food from others countries? The oil money from the south is given to the northern state free, can you deny that? quote author=Iyaebe post=109790213]They feed the nation (foodstuffs).Bitter truth.[/quote] |

Only a black man will count food as a contribution to national development. Funny thing is that the youths are the one posting this crazy answer. We really do deserve our leaders. Like my good friend always ask, can the black man ever be free? |

Nwaelohim:Man! Are you taking up the challenge or be an online rouser about food production? Do you know what foreign policy is? Yeah, you import things and pay for it. It's just like we in the East import things and pay for them (foreign policy) Without North, we can cross over to import Don't worry, AkwaIbom is trying onion in commercial quantity, in no distant time, we bid North bye as we get from within |
