They actually don't add any value which cannot be replaced if it is removed.
The reason why they sell cheaply to themselves is because the overwhelming majority of them are too poor and wretched to afford these products at the regular market price.
Their farmers need the South as a market or they will suffer.

what is the regular market Price? The truth is that a Northerner is not after hundred per cent profit, an average Northerner is not as greedy as an Igbo man. Some igbos will come to Yobe or Zamfara to buy rice at 18 thousand naira but when he reach the east he will be selling it at 35 thousand naira, that is wickedness .
I want you to mention one rich Igbo man that make his money without been in the north? Most of your rich people actually started from the north.
In jos, a rubber paint of soya beans is sold at #900 but in Enugu it is #1800 to #2000. Why? GREEDINESS!!!
Mind you, the first, second and third richest men in Africa are Nigerians from the North.
Don't think because somebody dress shabbily in the north you start under retting him. Most northerners don't like show up like the igbos that always like to claim richer.

Anything that igbos are not involved in is cheaper in the market. I am sure if igbos were agrarian people like the North, prices of food items in Nigeria would have been the highest in the world. This tribe is just too money-grubbing. They are the ones promoting the current rising inflation in the country, because when farmers are now paying two or three times of the price they used to buy industrial/imported products before, they too will increase the prices of their agriculture produce to compensate for the lost value of their money.

I was in Ibadan on a business trip around the time of the Shasha Market showdown between Yoruba and Hausa traders.

I still remember what happened after the Hausa/Fulanis were slaughtered and mocked by gleeful Yorubas as they scurried out of Ibadan like rodents escaping from a burning building.

They vowed they would never come back to Ibadan and they imposed a blockade to the effect that no tomato and onion farmer would allow their goods to be transported to Ibadan. What happened next?

They suffered huge losses to the point where they had to beg for truth and reconciliation!

It's up to you if you want to live in self-imposed delusion about the North. Poverty is not a virtue, especially if it causes you to live the kind of life an animal would look down on.

It's sad but not surprising that
this type of nonsense which led to the "North is not bleeding" lies, doesn't just apply to insecurity, it also applies to the poverty and wretchedness (both mental and material) of the average Northeber.

Atleast for my state(edo) we have the cheapest garri, plantain and yam

Plantain and garri, I agree but Yam give it to States Like Niger, Benue, Taraba and Nassarawa.
In 2014 I stopped at Ekpoma on my way to Abuja from Iruekpen to buy roasted yam and Sauce. After complaining about what I got the woman showed me the tubers of yam she got for N2500( 4 tubers or so) and then with N6000 I would buy 50tubers(half Kwariya) from Paiko Market in Niger State.
Recently, bought 7 big Tubers for N2500 from Hawkers in an urban area Niger state.
