The motivation to create this thread was fueled by my observation of the sudden surge of interference in state political affairs by the boys from the barrack(the military men). Guinea, Mali, and Burkina Faso have all recently witnessed military coups, and yesterday there was also a failed coup attempt in Guinea Bissau. Now I don't know if it is ignorance but I saw some posts from promising young men and women here in Nairaland celebrating this coup and wishing for it in Nigeria forgetting that Military takeover is not something to wish for any country. Matter of fact history has proven to us that the worst Democratic government is still far better than the best Military government. A typical military man lacks Civility and they rule with the decree. There is nothing like the justice system or the rule of law in a military administration. The worst form of corruption that ever took place in Nigeria happened during the 30 years of military rule in Nigeria and we are suffering the brunt of it as a result because these military men in power back then are still in the helms of political affairs today wearing Agbada. There is a popular saying that we should be careful of what we wish for because we might just get it. Happy new month guys. Cheers.

Our politicians have not learnt from that same mistake giving military the necessary excuse to plan a coup. Don't scare anybody what we have with Buhari today is not different from a military governments that Babangida had. Military might be cheaper. The NASS watching Buhari sell our future no checks and balances it's no difference now really. |

slimfit1:Please be careful what you wish for. At least in a democratic dispensation, there is little fear of public opinions and outbursts by those in power no matter how bad. Do you think Nnamdi Kanu and Sunday Igboho would still be alive today if we are in the military era? Or do you think the military government would have tolerated the EndSars protest for even a day? Let me enlighten you there is nothing like accountability or transparency or court of law and justice system in a military system of government. All the organs of government, Judiciary, executive and legislative are fused as one. |

ekob99:At least we will not have military leader going to London for health care, their kids will have to study in Nigeria because they will be sanctioned. During the military regime our health and education was banging because them and their kids where not allowed to travel. This idiot in government now could not travel to London then because he was scared they would overthrow him but his deputy was actually the main man behind him, he was powerless without Tunde. |

Bounceboune7:DSS at the moment in Imo is unknown soldiers. DSS in Ibadan chief Sundays house unknown soldiers. Arrest Sowore for speaking unknown soldiers. Young people dying in Lagos tollgate unknown soldiers. We are in a military regime my brother, otherwise the Parliament would have stood up against all these things going on not one person has stood up to talk about the conduct of the DSS, police and soldiers. Tell me the benefits of the Democracy we using today. It's so expensive that I can't even explain. |

slimfit1:don't wish bad on other just because u have buhari The worst of democracy is better than the best of military When u people cannibalize humans, dss must come to imo When u kill security operatives n destroy government structures dss must surely b in imo Sunday igbohos case is treason n he should b dealt with accordingly,no thanks to nnamdi azikwe Sowore contested against buhari n lost n then out of d blues he remembered revolution now,so if u can't win him through d ballot u destabilise his government, that's what your sowore Is trying to do. Can u present corpses of people that died at lekki toll gate,I remember we saw corpses floating on water at akwuzu, I remember corpses at oyigbo. So y call lekki shooting a massacre where there's no dead body but ignore akwuzu n oyigbo? |
