Indomitable Lions of Cameroon skipper Vincent Aboubakar has blamed his teammates after Thursday’s semi-final defeat to Egypt.

The Pharaohs edged hosts Cameroon 3-1 on penalties after 120 minutes of football ended 0-0 inside the Olembe stadium in Yaoundé.

Cameroon dominated the first half but failed to take advantage of some of the few chances they had.

And during the shootout, while Aboubakar scored Cameroon’s only goal, Egypt’s Abou Gabal made two saves before Clinton Njie struck his effort wide.

And speaking in his post-match press conference Aboubakar, who is still the top scorer with six goals, said individual play rather than collective play was their undoing.

“It’s a big disappointment,” he lamented.

“Cameroon organizes a CAN and is eliminated in the semi-finals. Everyone wanted to do what they want and here is the result today. When we play collectively, we do good things.”

The hosts will now face Burkina Faso in the third-placed match on Saturday while Egypt and Senegal will battle in Sunday’s final.

He should stop talking. They had the easiest route to the semi final. This is the first big team they are playing since the competition started. They aren't good enough

Lame excuse. He too was not outstanding & failed to make any individual impression.
Yes, football sometimes needs an element of luck & they didn't get it especially in 1st half. Overall Egypt gave them a solid & impressive match and deserve their place in the final. cool

losers always make excuse....na samuel eto on the stands naim i pity pass bcoz it seems that result cut his ticket..
cameroon had the easiest rout to the finals n are the worst penalty takers in the whole of this AFCON..
losing 3 penalties in a very disgracing manner apart from aboubaker, they need to be flogged jhare

I am not not seeing the striker's complaint I am preoccupied with our loss. Look at Egypt o. Truly we dont know the face of the market from the first hours. We topped group D. But we were eliminated at the first round. Now Egypt is going to the finals. Too sad. lipsrsealed
