Given the irregularities and fraudulent practice s that has PLAGUED our general elections , would the (USA)electoral college system bring about a free and fair election?

You can't half adopt a system. The Electoral college works well because every state get 2 senators to satisfy smaller states. Larger states benefit from have more house representatives due to population size. In Nigeria house of reps number doesn't change decade to decade like in the United States. Also the electoral college works because the founders in America didn't care about democracy because its mob rule. Nigerians love the idea of democracy. The goal was to maximize individual liberty and make sure a tyrannical federal government didn't arise hence why most power was conferred to States.

Because going by electoral votes, you are finally and permanently handing over power to the North forever without, no more reaching out our aligning with any party or group in the South, they'll have all the electoral votes needed to clinch and retain power forever.

Be careful what you wish for, go and sturdy the electoral vote system in America and how it works.
