Herdsmen Crisis: The Misconceptions by helinues(op): 6:16am On Feb 08, 2022
Disclaimer: I have never been in support of any form of criminality/terrorism activities. So my stand still remain

There have been some misconceptions about the Herdsmen crisis across the nation.

A herder is a pastoral worker responsible for the care and management of a herd or flock of domestic animals, usually on open pasture. It is particularly associated with nomadic or transhumant management of stock, or with common land grazing.

Herdsmen : the owner or keeper of a herd of domesticated animals.

Growing up as a kid, I remember there is an abattoir I used to visit then. They had a ranch/cage where the cows are kept). How those who are into the butchering business operate is, they will travel to Northern states where cows are cheap, they majorly buy baby cows and add old male and female for more reproduction. They hired herdsmen to look after the cows for them. When they are matured enough, they would be transported back to the owner down in Southern Nigeria.

Speaking of herdsmen across the nation, majority of those herders are also hired by local business people who are into cow business. It's not logical for herders to migrate their cows all away from Sokoto To Enugu or Ondo all in the name of searching for greener pastures.

Even the herders that have been reported to be found living inside Forest, some of them were invited by the locals, some of them paid someone from that community to be able to stay in the Forest.

Majority of those who have been behind the sponsor of herdsmen attacks are the cow owners which are of irrespective of region.

If we are indeed ready to tackle the Herdsmen crisis across the states, then we should also be ready to tackle the local people who have been hiring them, inviting them and sponsoring them.

The other day a southerner cows was attacked in his home state. Initially, it was reported the cows belong to as usual Fulani/Hausa until the owner came out to cry about his losses. Where has that owner being when the herdsmen have been attacking and killing innocent people.

Only matured response

Even before reading the entire post, from the heading I knew helinues,a jobless pathological Igbo hater was alluding to the recent incident in Enugu.

Thurderstorms and many other diabolic experiences have been meted out to cows in Yoruba land, killing scores of cows while helinues and his cohorts rejoiced here. He didn't consider it necessary to open a thread.

See Nlers, Nigeria is lost forever!

We hate ourselves!

We can never be one!

The feeling is mutual!

I hate you and vice versa.

All those mouthing one Nigeria are either afraid or eating from the warped set up.

We can never be one!

So tell me, how can Nigeria progress when the citizens don't love themselves and will never ever do so?

Everybody's right stops where another's begins. Herding is a business. A lucrative one in that matter. It stands to reason that everyone involved in business should not in anyway become a nuisance to the society or worst a threat to the survival of his host. This has been the Hallmark of the Fulani herdsmen irrespective of who owns the cattles.

The way and manner/boldness with which they invade their host communities with violence leaves one with no option than to either stand to defend himself or die.

Worst still, is government open support to their nefarious activities. Such utterances merely emboldened them. "Give your land to herdsmen if you want them to stop killings"

To bring peace and a lasting one, herdsmen must carry out their activities as business, leasehold, rent, or buy land.

This killings MUST STOP

You are still exonerating the owners. If the average number of the Herdsmen are not the owner of those cows, do you think they herders have the capacity to attack anyone without the owners in support?

Atiku, Buhari, Kwankwanso cows and co, no be some herders dey look after their cows for them?

Over 10,000 lay dead and hundreds of communities destroyed and supplanted by the so called herders without a single arrest and prosecution of the murderers. Over 8 states are affected leaving over 2 million in IDPs yet this is all you have to say. You are nothing less than an advocate for those vampires but remember that whatever a man sows is what he shall reap. The survivors won't just lose their memories and forget about their loved ones killed in cold blood plus their burnt down communities. Justice must be done.

No misconceptions anywhere. These terrorists disguise as pastoralists have a mission from antiquity-to complete what Usman Dan Fodio started.

The solution is ESN, no movements of cows on land, use trucks from your ranches to the market, but if you go otherwise both the herdsmen & the owner will receive the heat.

People buy land for their business so they should do the same for ranching.

In one community market in Niger state, I had they ban cattle sales because those bandits disguise as herders & join cows to penetrate the market to buy food, drinks etc for there members in the camp who terrorise villagers.

I don't exonorate the owners. In fact, read well, you will understand that. The owners are the people in government and you can see how they give open support to the herders. This support is the needed spur for the herdsmen.

But the locales can still rise up and save their future.
