naija4life247:Calm down, the schools in Nigeria are almost rubbish. Those UK schools that you talk about can compete with any school anywhere. Sadly we may end up being a worse case India |

God bless you (Sanwo Olu) for this noble cause and sound reasoning. I've been advocating for the polytechnic and CofE system to be scrapped. It's just a waste of time and resources if our system wont give it the proper recognition For those that might raise comparison about associate diploma issuing colleges in other countries, do they run the program for 3 to 5yrs as we have in our own system. If Nigeria can't scrap the polytechnic system, they should scrap the HND and let schools that wants to engage in it issues just ND. Trying to apply for MSc in a foreign country, and I'm surprised I have to send transcript of my ND, HND and BSc just because I used my HND to seek admission for BSc, if that is not waste of resources, I don't know what else is. |

naija4life247:How many of UK universities make the list of Best 1000 universities in the world and how many of Nigeria universities? We need to supply human, capital and technical resources to develop existing ones, not creating new ones that will continue to make us "plenty without standard'. This is what the person you responded to mean. |

Nonpartisan1:God bless you. In developed countries they may not even call an institution by the name University. Some of the best degree awarding institutions in the world are bearing the name "college" but Nigerian leaders know the average Nigerian is only concerned about nomenclature not content hence the decision to call glorified secondary schools "University" |

This is what happens when priority is given to certificate name and not the ability to defend it. B.sc is the hinge thing as polytechnic graduate are seen as less qualified |
