Kurt Zouma: Racism And The Importance Of Economic Power by safarigirl(f): 9:10am On Feb 10, 2022
I'm not sure if this is the right section for this, but I'll post here still.

I'm sure by now, we are all aware of the recent incident concerning West Ham player and France international, Kurt Zouma. Specifically, there has been severe backlash on the player since a video emerged of him abusing his cat.

Since this video emerged, Kurt Zouma has faced severe backlash from the general public for his actions, some would say, even more severe than we have seen on players accused of racism. There have been calls for him to be sacked by West Ham and prosecuted for his actions.

West Ham has, in response, fined him £250,000 worth of his wages, and Adidas has dropped Zouma as an ambassador.

The main purpose of this thread, is to discuss why this is happening to this player, and how powerless and essentially, useless, his people are, in helping him.

Now, recall that in 2014 or so, Luis Suarez was accused of racism towards Patrice Evra, he had also faced criticism for biting opposition players. At this time, Suarez was a brand ambassador of Adidas. In response to these accusations, Adidas merely gave Suarez a warning and even went on to promote a campaign where Suarez bared his teeth, as if in glorification of his reputation as a "beast/vampire".

People have now asked why Adidas so easily supported Suarez despite his act being considerably worse than the mere crime of kicking a cat.

Why was the backlash not severe?
Why did Suarez get a slap on the wrist and nothing else?
Why is Zouma getting all this heat over a cat?

Simple

Ladies and Gentlemen, MONEY makes the world GO ROUND

Adidas and other brands, basically, only care about where their money is at. If they notice significant threat to their money source, they will cut off that threat. If you cannot pull in funds, if you have no economic leverage, you are useless to these brands.

This is where the uselessness of the black race is most evident. You see, nobody cares if someone uses a racial slur on a black man, because the black man does not have economic leverage. He is not important in the grand scheme of things, not the way the white race is, or the Asians. No, the black man has no economic worth.

If you do not have purchasing power, you have no say. Africa has no purchasing power, Adidas has nothing to lose by retaining the services of an exposed racist. See, racism has no real bearing on how companies like Adidas are run, because most of their customers do not have to deal with racism on the average. It is a non-issue to them.

Animal cruelty though, that is a different ball game. See, the majority white customers, the Europeans and Westerners, they care about animal cruelty and retaining the services of a black man who hit a cat, that will surely turn off those European customers.

Kurt Zouma is a black man. His people are at the bottom of the totem pole on the economic scale. None of their outrage will have significant effect on the Adidas market.

He did not do anything beyond forgiveness, he did not harm another human being, he kicked a bloody cat, and now, there is a calculated attempt to bring him to his knees, because to be honest, the people who have the power to do so, have no regard for his race.

Black man, get your money up. Black man, build your financial worth, black man build your economy, black man, give yourself importance in this brutal world, because until the Black race uplifts itself, you will NEVER be Respected.

PS: Do you know that no player or club has ever been fined up to £100,000 for racism? But kick a cat as a black man and £250,000 is gone.

Not you telling me about facts and not even bothering to Google the Luis Suarez I mentioned

Last I checked, he is A-Okay, no firing and no nothing.

If not that the sperm that fertilized you was so weak that your brain could not develop properly, you would not have quoted me with this balderdash, ranting like a deranged animal.

Please, take your misfortune elsewhere.

Stupid peeps... They kill millions of goats, sheep, cows, dogs, chicken, fish. Turkey etc. They shoot birds for hunting, they murder deers, etc.. Yet the world wants to end because Zouma whooped his own pet...

A man can do whatever he likes to an animal. Until society starts showing love to humans, then you have no bone in what Kurt did to his pet.

You people try so hard to humanize animals. They are animals, they kill other animals to survive..

Why didn't they arrest their prince? He came to Africa and shot a buffalo! Murdered the buffalo right in the head with a rifle! We are still awaiting the outpouring of tears for the buffalo! Abi, Adidas doesnt want to pull sponsorship here? When is France going to prosecute him and put him in jail for 4 years? Abi the Buffalo shouldnt be protected because it doesnt have an english accent?

The things we do to animals (mules, donkeys, cows) in the name of farm work, and horses during a polo game or horse racing are worse than what Zouma did to his cat...

Many people are dense! And you are one of them.. You are dense because of mental slavery. People Like you are the reason racism continues. Shameless!

Rather than stand by your brother, you stood by a foooking cat and hugged the racist motivation of a racist corporation. I expect you will go out and buy your Adidas shoes and jersey this weekend. Disgusting human, you are!!

Just seeing this thread. This corroborates what you have been saying for years.

What is the way out? How can blacks rise economically as fast as possible after decades of subjugation, exploitation and enslavement?

Well, I've written extensively on the issue of how economic power is linked to racism. https://www.nairaland.com/5886610/racism-against-blacks-reduce-drastically

However, there are some things you have to consider.

Kurt Zouma is a black man. His people are at the bottom of the totem pole on the economic scale. None of their outrage will have significant effect on the Adidas market.

When the news broke out, I thought he was an African player not knowing he was French. That's where he goofed, because as a black European, he should have known how white people regard animals. However, if Zouma was an African American, the consequences would have been less severe because African Americans are the richest set of black people globally and dominate the entertainment/sporting industries in the US - one of the world's biggest market for sporting goods.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R-0NsJ6RgJ0

You're right that rich people aren't disregarded or disrespected simply because the consequences are very bad let alone for businesses whose sole aim is to make money aka bottomline. And there is nothing wrong with this belief because it's simply a human trait.

People have now asked why Adidas so easily supported Suarez despite his act being considerably worse than the mere crime of kicking a cat.

Why was the backlash not severe?
Why did Suarez get a slap on the wrist and nothing else?
Why is Zouma getting all this heat over a cat?

Inasmuch as racism shouldn't be condoned, the issue most blacks especially those of sub-Saharan origin (I didn't read or see a defence of Zouma by African Americans) is using their notion of how animals are regarded to judge Europeans. There have been cases where white people got penalised for maltreating animals. How whites view animals differ significantly from how blacks do and this is linked to economics. Generally, those who highly regard animal rights are at the apex of Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs. Na person wey don chop belly full fit believe say dog or cat get right. On the other hand, North Asians - Japanese, Koreans and Chinese (across the region) eat certain animals like whales, dogs, bats etc. But Westerners don't brazenly criticise them for doing so because those Asians are rich, through which they command respect.

Additionally, I think it's wrong for someone especially those from lesser backgrounds to commit atrocities brazenly and let the public know when they are in a different environment. I can kick the belly of a cow in Calabar and would be applauded for it but my life would be at risk if I do the same in India. So, expecting whites not to penalise him or make the penalties less damaging simply because you as a sub-Saharan African see animals in a different perspective doesn't hold.

This is where the uselessness of the black race is most evident. You see, nobody cares if someone uses a racial slur on a black man, because the black man does not have economic leverage. He is not important in the grand scheme of things, not the way the white race is, or the Asians. No, the black man has no economic worth.

The average black sub-Saharan African and maybe black Brazilian*. For African Americans, there exist consequences for disrespecting or using racial slurs at them because they constitute 12% of the world's biggest economy (depends on the metric you use). Also, the punishments would have been less severe if Zouma was Chinese or South Korean. But then, maybe those Asians would have been circumspect than a black European who should have known a thing or two about animal rights in the EU.

Now, recall that in 2014 or so, Luis Suarez was accused of racism towards Patrice Evra, he had also faced criticism for biting opposition players. At this time, Suarez was a brand ambassador of Adidas. In response to these accusations, Adidas merely gave Suarez a warning and even went on to promote a campaign where Suarez bared his teeth, as if in glorification of his reputation as a "beast/vampire"

Luis Suarez was a hot cake during that period playing for a top club while Zouma isn't playing for a top club. Notwithstanding his cannibal attitude, Barcelona bought him even though he was given a four-match ban for biting Chiellini. The consequences a regulator will hand differs from a corporate organisation because business is different. Some consumers like controversial people and will patronise products or services advertised by these people, which is the concern of a sponsor not the regulator. Economics over emotions.

Black man, get your money up. Black man, build your financial worth, black man build your economy, black man, give yourself importance in this brutal world, because until the Black race uplifts itself, you will NEVER be Respected

Again, I've written extensively on how Nigerian men - most populous of black men have failed their women but blockheads disagreed. Maybe one day, their heads wouldn't be blocked.

At this point, e go hard o. Globalisation that I thought sub-Saharan African countries can take advantage of is taking a back seat due to Russia-Ukraine crises and US-China relationship. At this point, it's an individual race. Maybe the present teen generation would do something.

Thanks for the mention. On Twitter, I didn't tweet much because the vast majority were one sided arguments and even the one I did, I was labelled an Uncle Tom.

Black people are too emotional!
