Danielnino00:Even the Mali game will be very hard. |

Just like I affirmed earlier, we continue to face the same problem, we can't make buckets outside the arch. The girls weren't even confident of the ability to make 3 points so they were very conservative. Despite their conservatism, they made a total of 4/14 on 3 point shorts. We only attempted 14 3-point shorts and made only 4 of them in the entire game. It's obvious there really no one in th current crop of players we parade who can be saddled with this responsibility. I'm hoping that the team qualifies for the world cup and if they do, they must include at least 2 persons whose are of expertise will be 3 point shorts. Really do not know what the status is on Arike Ogunbowale but she's one person who can do this for us |

PDPGuy:....no its not, despite everything it ended at 90-76.....My take, i knew it was going to be hard without Ezinne,Promise and Sarah too me are better off been played as an off guard. Hence why we reallyhad serious problem. One of the older ones in either Elonu or Nyingifa will have to be a make shift guard, to assist promise, as in playing that role fully, Nyingifa did this towards the end of the game. Also we were trying to get the Chinese girls of the glass., hence why we played zone,However, the chinese girls could shoot, hence, it was not so effective, Ultimately, the damage was done in the 1st qtr. We would grow into the tournament, we only need to beat Mali, which i believe, we would. Then, we can go and take care of our house. Since they are done with the election, there should not be any excuse should, we qualify for world cup, at full strength i feel we can actually beat this chinese girls, our girl, had just a session or 2 to train together before today, so i will be easy on them. |

carbonado:While I agree with you on some points, the team will still fall short cause of the 3point deficits. This isn't peculiar to this qualifiers, it's been a challenge, hence our early exit from the Olympics. See the Japanese team for instance, the were trailing Canada by as much as 20 points in the 3rd quarter but went on to win the game. Our team definitely has character, the 4th quarter showed that, but we'll always need that extra edge that the 3points give and for now we don't have it even with the full team playing. |

lovewins:... Absolutely our lack of ability to make 3 pointers has been our biggest problem. The only person i have a little bit of confidence in her 3 pointers now is Amy Okonkwo, despite she being a power forward. |

I believe we would play better 2mw...The game against China served as a real practise for the girls, though i am sad that we do not have much of creativity on the team atm... However, i believe we would beat Mali, even, if it is 1 point... Btw Mali playing well against France atm.. |
| Re: Nigeria Basketball Thread! by somehow: 8:02pm On Feb 10, 2022 |
They actually tried. Another problem is the inability to close down 3 points shooters. |
| Re: Nigeria Basketball Thread! by carbonado(m): 8:15pm On Feb 10, 2022 |
somehow:thats true, however you will notice that we played zone alot... If you play zone, it is to the advantage of a shooting team, i guess they were trying to give the Chinese a lot of problems going to the basket, as the Chinese girls a taller, however, the chinese could shoot. I am also guessing that our coaches were not privileged to watch a recent game of the chinese to make a scouting report. Also we are short handed at the moment(Ezinne and also Ify seems to ne injured too. Still not sure what it is, if the French team are weaker that their usual standard or the Malians have really improved. Time will tell. |

Mali won't be easy to beat. They lost to France by 11 points. The girls need to hit the game running from the very beginning to have a chance. |
| Re: Nigeria Basketball Thread! by somehow: 4:50am On Feb 11, 2022 |
carbonado:I believe so too. And yes the Chinese can shoot even with the height. |

lovewins:They weren't shy with attacking the nets at all. |

The Malians have put in a better defensive performance against the Chinese, than we did. |
| Re: Nigeria Basketball Thread! by PDPGuy(op): 4:32pm On Feb 11, 2022 |
The “issue” is that all 12 Chinese players are absolutely good 3-point shooters! Their prowess outside the arc will trouble a lot of teams at the World Cup. All the same, congrats to China on qualifying for the World Cup ![]() |

Much better defensive organization from D’Tigress compared to the China game |
| Re: Nigeria Basketball Thread! by lovewins: 6:47pm On Feb 11, 2022 |
2nd Quarter Nigeria 27 France 38 We trail by 11 points Again we are lacking in 3 point shots. A total of 6 attempts have been made and only 1 went in. The fact that the goals only attempted 6 shots shows they themselves are lacking in confidence of making them |
