D’Tigress biggest lead in a non-African tourney |
| Re: Nigeria Basketball Thread! by Danielnino00(m): 1:24pm On Feb 13, 2022 |
We are attempting very few 3 pointers today...Driving more to the paint and drawing lots of fouls..The strategy has worked... |
| Re: Nigeria Basketball Thread! by PDPGuy(op): 1:28pm On Feb 13, 2022 |
Danielnino00:Right! Coach Hughley probably realized the Malians aren’t as skillful as his players, so the more fouls the Malians commit, the more pensive they’re key players would be. |

I stopped watching in the 3rd qtr to save data. The issue of starting slow must be addressed if we ever want to make a name in the world cup. Nice job though. We have now qualified convincingly. |

Pidginwhisper:4th quarter has been terrible.... but i think they've done enough to win it.. yes if we win, we qualify |
| Re: Nigeria Basketball Thread! by Pidginwhisper: 1:45pm On Feb 13, 2022 |
Mehn! The 4th quarter curse hasn’t left us afterall. How could you throw away staggering 20points |
| Re: Nigeria Basketball Thread! by PDPGuy(op): 1:45pm On Feb 13, 2022 |

| Re: Nigeria Basketball Thread! by carbonado(m): 1:59pm On Feb 13, 2022 |
we need to have a another true point guard.............Promise is not a true point guard. She is an off guard, she is been played out of position, i will give it her, she tried, having to play as a point guard, when you are not, at this level is not easy, she is my MVP... |

1st Quarter: 20:22 2nd Quarter: 22:13 3rd Quarter: 22:9 4th Quarter: 9:25 that 4th quarter was ridiculous |
| Re: Nigeria Basketball Thread! by lovewins: 2:03pm On Feb 13, 2022 |
Congratulations Nigeria Terrible 4th Quarter. How exactly did we let go of a 21 point lead? The ladies a tenacious but we need fresh faces in the team. In my opinion we need to find replacement for the following players 1. Atonye 2. Pallas 3. Musa 4. Nkem |
| Re: Nigeria Basketball Thread! by PDPGuy(op): 2:05pm On Feb 13, 2022 |
SlyCharlie:They simply went to sleep thinking the game was done and dusted after gaining a 21-point lead |
| Re: Nigeria Basketball Thread! by carbonado(m): 2:05pm On Feb 13, 2022 |
SlyCharlie:....Mali no come sell groundnut o,they also want to go to the world cup, If you followed the build up, you will know that we were really shorthanded, No true point guard in your team, going into a major tournament.......and also no good preparation, however, we came from 31 - 11 down to beat no 5 in the world in France. Basketball is not a straight line.....If it is a straight line, france should beat us too by atleast 8 points or there about.. Congrats Nigeria, back to back world cup...... |
| Re: Nigeria Basketball Thread! by PDPGuy(op): 2:07pm On Feb 13, 2022 |
The NBBF need to do all they can to get Michaela Onyenwere to commit to D’Tigress, because she will be obviously a valuable forward |
| Re: Nigeria Basketball Thread! by ChangetheChange: 2:09pm On Feb 13, 2022 |
Yes we qualified |
| Re: Nigeria Basketball Thread! by carbonado(m): 2:09pm On Feb 13, 2022 |
PDPGuy:..yeap, we switched off, it also happened, with this Malian team in the finals of Afrobasket, remember they cut the lead down at the Afrobasket finals in the 4th quarter. |
| Re: Nigeria Basketball Thread! by carbonado(m): 2:12pm On Feb 13, 2022 |
PDPGuy:This i agree with, we need more quality........ |
| Re: Nigeria Basketball Thread! by lovewins: 2:16pm On Feb 13, 2022 |
Another way of looking at the 4yh quarter debacle will be recognizing the fact that we prosecuted an entire tournament with 8 players. It can be mentally and physically draining. Musa and Nkem came in just for a few seconds in the 3rd quarter and that was it. We must give it to the girls, that despite this deficits, they came through. We need new additions though |
| Re: Nigeria Basketball Thread! by lovewins: 2:18pm On Feb 13, 2022 |
PDPGuy:Convincing her won't be difficult, she's appears to be very pro-Nigeria. She only needs to be approached. I also think we need size in the team. We should intentionally scout for tall players. That's what gives teams like the USA an advantage |
