Water In Transmission by FredLum(op): 7:05pm On Feb 13, 2022
Dear Nairalanders,
My Toyota Sienna 2015 has been given overheating issues; had the thermostat and radiator changed and it became fine, however, I noticed milky oil in the radiator and discover too that the transmission oil has a strawberry colour, I rushed to the mechanic to get it flushed and ordered another radiator because it water got to the transmission Via the radiator.
My major issue is the oil in the transmission is still milky after about 4 changes, do I drop the gearbox and completely clean it or do a continuous flush.

I feel that for a severe case as this proper transmission flush with simple tools would have been better than multiple drain and refill.

Have you been checking the Transmission fluid before the overheating? The colour is pink/red. Which trans oil are you using as replacement? Don't drop it o. Be careful. That gear is very expensive

Probably the contaminat is in the clutch converter which won't get drained using drain and fill method.

The water injestion may not be from only faulty radiator but from hose and probably seals. Nah mechanic go check that or find out whether toyota has a TSB for that model year problem.

I noticed the issue after the radiator was changed, that is the reason we concluded it's from the radiator.
However, we did flushing with over 3 garlons as advised by gazzuz, changed the filter, the color of the ATF is normal now, but I would still change it in a week's time.

Is the replacement radiator a new one or a Tokunbo?

Good you realised and corrected it.

When installing radiators, always go for new.

Those plastics degrade due to heat cycles and age.

All the best with your car.
