Chief Tony is also constructing the Umuohiagu road off Airport road. The factory is situated along that vicinity.

Goodnews Orange Drugs is investing home. This looks Massive as I can see it has a nice precast slab for the both drainages, the fences paved with marble designs not as usual chunks of blocks showing. The Estate houses in their is top-notch, since it's the SE/SS regional Qtrs, it's going to be Gigantic project.

I can see it has an underground drainage with a pedestrian sidewalk guarded by barrier rail. Looking like one location in Lekki Ekpe road or Garrison P.H. This is to tell you Hope Uzodinma is a answered prayer on performing Governor for Heartland state. Hon Emeka Ihedioha, Roaches, Ohakim and the past didn't see it necessity. Give this man next 4 yrs with this tempo, you won't recognise Orlu, Okigwe and Owerri anymore. Glad to see Dave umahi and Hope implementing Pedestrians and underground drainage on our roads. By then not only Abj, PH and lagos will be used as reference point for comparison but Kigali city.

Yes he's deploying covered drains at all remodeled junctions, but it's not yet extensive, I presume he wants to finish the junction improvement works before extensively deploying the walkways.

That's impressive. Did you notice Since Hope removed OCDA Engr ikpeamazu, Road traders blocking the roads side with umbrella has started returning in numbers. that guy was doing good to keep them in check as i do follow his radio awareness, he really has the state at heart. What i don't know is why they removed him and put one dull fat guy?

Ikpamezie is one of Hope Uzodinma most trusted henchmen, but he was accusing of taking bribes and approving illegal structures as well as reselling recovered government properties using his closeness to the governor as a cover. The new guy seems to be a gentleman with less interest in thuggish disposition. The issue with Douglas road is just the market there, though there's a new effort to allocate trading spaces at the proposed multi level carpark to the traders pending when the new market will be completed later this year.

They wan turn the multi level car park to multi level market?
Cause e get as these traders d behave....
Once allowed to use that place, to leave will be wahala, and if government chase them they will start crying in the media that government is spoiling their goods.

My brother, we mistakenly drove through a part of Lagos, one night, few weeks back while trying to beat traffic, trust me, all the times I've spent in Lagos, I NEVER knew there was an area with that huge population of prostitutes who come out at night to stand on the road.

It was funny because I actually thought something was going on ahead of us, until them tell me what's up.

As @Ofodirinwa rightly said, saying a place is full of prostitutes isn't really an insult

No prostitutes = the place is poor
Prostitutes = the place is rich.

Prostitutes will go to where money is because that is where business is. An adult should be able to reason through this. Between Abuja and Dutse where will you see prostitution more? Between Abuja and Los Angeles? It's like insulting a place for having too many story buildings. Owerri is the most economically vibrant and livable city in the East next to Enugu. It will have prostitutes. The higher the city's standard of living the more prostitute. A girl trying to sell her market at Onitsha Main Market to people selling carrots and radios will hear about the girls in Owerri dealing with hotel owners and international business men. From there, she will relocate. Simple.

You sound so much like someone that has mental problem..

We aren't saying there are no prostitutes even in the remotest village in Nigeria, what we are saying is that the ratio of prostitutes in Owerri are by far higher than other real sectors that genuinely generate wealth.

Again there's nothing liveable about Owerri. Owerri has the worst roads and filth just next to Aba. The vlogger said that much. Have you asked yourself why most imo indigenes living in South-East would rather live in PH, Onitsha and to some extent Enugu. You can hardly see other igbos from Enugu, Anambra, Abia or even Ebonyi living in Owerri, why?

You said that a girl in Onitsha that's doing legitimate business will leave it just to go and do prostitution in Owerri? Where does that happen? Are you sane at all? Have you seen why almost every family in imo state has one or two or more prostitutes plying their trade in Owerri? So one of the motivations for high prostitution in Owerri is the thinking that the girls will one day meet an international business men in the cource of prostitution. That's the mentality that has destroyed the value system and earned Owerri the tag of prostitution capital of Nigeria.

Have you seen why prostitution, yahoo plus and general insecurity is so high in Owerri? This is because outside of prostitution and yahoo, there's almost non existent genuine income earning job in that town.

I don't why we are living in denial, are there other major job creation in Owerri? No. Like I said, you can find prostitutes everywhere in Nigeria, but Owerri has more population of it becomes aside those hotels, are there other major businesses in the town? maybe the government can marry them? We like prostitutes and we're happy about prostitution. Maybe you can marry them if the government refuses?

many places don't have prostitutes because of the low income of their residents. Of the cities in the east, PH and Owerri have the most prostitutes. Followed by Asaba and Aba. Onitsha, Akwa, and Afikpo then round up the final batch. Abakaliki now has many.

Stop being unnecessarily emotional. There may even be more prostitutes in a place like PH, but the point we are making is that the economic mix in PH won't allow one notice the domineering effect of prostitution like you see in Owerri.

Rivers, Lagos, Delta Anambra, Enugu, etc, for instance has a wide range of diversified economy ranging from white collar, blue collar, hospitality, commerce, industry, etc. This is not the case in Imo state, it is just hotels and hotels. Creating economic mix will help Owerri diversify like other cities thereby reducing the huge domineering effect of prostitution.

high prostitute ratio, how GDP per capita. Low ratio, low per capita.
If you're in a town where the average person makes 100 naira a week, and you're a prostitute. will you
1. Stay?
2. Move to a city where people are making 10,000 naira a day?

Why will someone be a prostitute at Onitsha Main Market where they'll be wrestling agberos and selling their market to people that sell chickens and goof when they can go Douglas Road and deal with international men?

You are a real joker. Lol. How dare you compare standard of livng in PH to a village like Owerri? Are you OK?

Please stop amusing me. Kindly list the businesses or industrial concerns in Owerri aside hotels and filling stations.

The economy of Obi Akpo local government is thrice bigger than the economy of Imo state. This is a fact. There are even more hotels in PH but one won't notice it because one, PH is big, again there are other many businesses, industrial concerns that balanced up hotel businesses. On the other hand, Owerri is a small town but hotels constitute almost 80% of the businesses in the town.

Is Onitsha Main Market the only place you know in Onitsha? The same Onitsha is where most rich imo indigenes that live in southeast reside. The same Onitsha is where the richest Imo indigene(Orange drugs) live and has his biggest industrial concerns.

Have you asked yourself why more imo indigenes are living in Onitsha than Owerri? Why would any sane imo indigene leave Onitsha where he earns genuine and bigger wealth then return to Owerri where yahoo ritualists, prostitutes, kidnappers, poverty, etc, are ravaging the land?

For economy to be healthy, it has to be balanced. It is just like "balanced diet" and "non balanced diet". You know how the body system reacts when giving 'non balanced diet'.

Yes imo indigenes are rich in Onitsha. They made their money in Onitsha and not in Owerri.

You can hardly find anyone that stayed in Owerri all through and became rich. Owerri is not wired for money making like Lagos, PH, Onitsha, even Enugu, etc.

Anyone that live in Owerri is bound to be poor except the person relocates to make money in those money cities. Some Imo people understood this and that's why they moved to Lagos, PH, Onitsha, etc

According to sources is going to be it's regional HQ in the SS/SE district.

Though he came late with his own investment but it's better than nothing like Capt Iheanacho and CO

Highly commendable!!!
I like the idea of investing in your native hood is becoming a competition in Igboland. A time will come when all those wealthy men that invested only in Lagos, Abuja etc. outside their own states won't be recognized anymore.

The economic activities it is going to spur in that area and the state as well will be significant. The likes of Iheanacho should cover his face in shame. To even think Iheanacho is from an oil producing area of Imo State yet he didn't want to invest there yet wants to rule Imo State?!

@Bolded: how you take know!? Did you go out armed with your Ipad for a headcount of prostitutes in Owerri!?

On your claim on insecurity being rife in Owerri because there’s no industry besides prostitution and yahoo-yahoo...this has got to be the daftest assertion of the week! How come said insecurity only reared its head with the coming of Uzodinma!? It was after he invited the evil Nigerian army to Imo State, that the insecurity kicked off in earnest! How come the very same Imo was peaceful during the Okorocha years and the short stint of Ihedioha!? Dude, if you’re looking for the cause of insecurity in Imo State, look no further than outsiders...northern elements either in or close to the bloodthirsty Nigerian security bodies like the army, police and DSS!

If you like, we can have a discussion on why they (the uninvited ‘guests’ in the SE) want a climate of insecurity and fear....not just in Imo, but the entire south-east, but open a thread for that so we don’t derail this one!

An impoverished economy leads its people to prostitution.
Where there are no jobs, people take to prostitution. Too many youngsters in the too many tertiary education institutions in Owerri area, but little or no job in the area, make youngsters take to prostitution to earn a living. A youngster who earns a living wage from a job will not take to prostitution. The too many hotels in Owerri exploit the absence of jobs for most of the youngsters in the city.

I'm sure that what they tell you in church but in real life you're unemployed and you're not a prostitute. Or is it that prostitutes flock to where there's unemployment to eat beans and malt with other unemployed people?

Also what is this story where people are trying to make hotels seem like its not a phenomenal business. There are hotels in Owerri because it is modern, clean, vibrant and attractive. If Unemployment in Owerri is more than other places why do so many people desire visiting that city to the point that it dominates the tourism industry in Nigeria?

Maybe it's the unemployed people building these world class hotels and filling them night after night with unemployed people. In fact even the hotel staff are unemployed

In order for a place to have 1 hotel, that means it is thriving and people are paying high prices just to come to the place and enjoy a great life.

Why are there more hotels in Dubai then Dutse?
Why are there more hotels in Abu Dhabi than Adamawa?
Why are there more hotels in Las Vegas than Lokoja?
Why are their more hotels in Owerri than Ontisha?

Because of unemployment in Dubai and high employment in Dutse? People all over Nigeria come to Owerri to enjoy a better vision of life and there aren't enough hotels to meet the growing demand.
