US Stock Market Jumps After Russia Says It's Withdrawing Some Troops by God1000(op):
Russia-Ukraine fears eased Tuesday morning after Russia announced it is withdrawing some troops following the completion of recent drills near Ukraine. The Dow jumped about 280 points, or 0.8%. The S&P 500 surged 1% and the Nasdaq was 1.5% higher. Investors have been concerned that an armed Russian conflict with Ukraine could badly damage the global economy. A war could send prices surging in regions that have already been struggling with rapidly rising inflation, especially as energy supplies could be disrupted in the middle of a conflict. Russia is a major exporter of oil and particularly natural gas. US oil futures tumbled about 3.5%. That's despite the fact that Russia stressed Tuesday that major military exercises would continue.

Russia does not want war, says Putin

President Putin is asked if he can exclude the possibility of war in Europe. He references Chancellor Scholz's earlier comments that his generation cannot imagine war in Europe - but points out the continent has seen war in Yugoslavia in the 1990s, which he claims was initiated by Nato. Putin says Russia does not want war and so has put forward proposals to start a negotiation process - but he says there has been no constructive response to Russia's proposals. However, he adds that there are still issues put forward by Nato and the US which could be discussed.

We need to resolve the question of Ukraine's Nato membership, says Putin

The Russian president says over the last 30 years we’ve been told there would be no expansion of Nato at all, yet today we see infrastructure “right on our doorstep”. Putin queries when Ukraine’s Nato membership would be accepted. “We need to resolve this question now, we need to resolve this question over the course of these negotiations," he says. "We hope our concern will be heard by our partners and taken seriously," he adds. (BBC

Russia ready to continue talks with West on missiles, says Putin

President Vladimir Putin on Tuesday said Russia was prepared to continue dialogue on missiles and other security issues with the West, speaking in Moscow with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz. Tensions in Europe have run high in recent weeks on Western fears Russia may invade neighbouring Ukraine, which Moscow denied is its intention. Russia said on Tuesday some of its troops were returning to base after exercises near Ukraine.

Shame on Usa with their false allegations

They think they can blackmail Russia. If we were to go by Usa Bunkum, Russia would have invaded Ukraine by now

If Russia indeed want to invade Ukraine, it would take them less than 72 hours to take over Kiev, the Ukraine capital

Russia just wanted to strengthen their negotiating power with the West which they have done.

What prompted Russia military exercise near Ukraine border? Its because Ukraine military started their military training in Black sea which Western medias have not really been reporting.

It was likely possible that the Ukraine government was planning to pounce on the secessionists in the East which Russia is backing which birthed the military training at black sea. Infact, some of the secessionists have been issued Russia passport which means they are Russia citizens.

Russia is smart enough to carry out their military training near Ukraine borders.

Putin has done the right thing by de-escalating the situation because it won't end well for all the parties involved.

Further economic sanctions will cripple Russia's economy

Usa are just acting hypocritically in this case. Recently, the secessionists group in Ukraine have been raising their voice regarding non of the agreement that was signed to end the war in the past have not been kept. Ukraine was planning of attacking the secessionists which made them to start military training at black sea. Usa can't feign ignorance of that.

Infact before the military exercise from both Russia and Ukraine, Usa troops have been moving to neighboring countries to Ukraine. You have no idea how Usa have been talking authoritatively about Russia invading Ukraine without any solid basis.

Infact, I don't trust Usa cos they can start to attack Ukrainians just to implicate Russia. They definitely have agendas regarding this case

It appears Ukraine is yet to accept the reality that Crimea is part of Russia, maybe because it was forcefully taken away.

America is still trying to contain Russia and China by all means which seems like a pipedream now.

Thank God the diplomatic efforts by the western leaders have yielded good result, no country wants a war with Russia, not even America

Lol. Russia is trying to play the victim after realizing how stupid their plan was. No one gathers support by trying to invade a peaceful country.

You have swallowed too much of western medias bunkum

Ukraine and Usa was planning to attack the secessionists which Russia are backing hence they reason the move swiftly to conduct their military exercise should incase.

if you have been watching live videos of Russian military troops ( 100k+) with their ammunitions, you wont be calling them a bluff

Thrash. You too have swallowed eastern media propaganda targeted at a low IQ audience which clearly you're part of.

Ask yourself, Will Ukraine be fighting a civil war currently if Russia did not violate their sovereignty and annex Crimea just because the citizens rejected a pro Russia government. After all the promises about leaving them alone to decide their fate after they gave Russia their nukes willfully.

Ukraine does not want a pro Russian government but you think it's Russia's right to sponsor insurgency in their country because they're not wanted. Friendship is not by force.

If the USA wants to help Ukraine fight secessionists, are they fighting Russia. Ukraine themselves requested to be part of NATO in 2008. Nobody forced them. The West is simply naturally preferred by world due to more liberal policies, less wickedness and better living conditions. It's not about propaganda. Unless you're too dumb to see it. Which you are obviously.

Crimea was part of Russia from 1783, when the Tsarist Empire annexed it a decade after defeating Ottoman forces in the Battle of Kozludzha, until 1954, when the Soviet government transferred Crimea from the Russian Soviet Federation of Socialist Republics (RSFSR) to the Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic (UkrSSR).

Even though the publicly enunciated rationales for the transfer of Crimea to the UkrSSR were of little credibility, some of the comments published in 1954 and other information that has come to light since then do allow us to gauge why the Soviet authorities decided on this action.

One of the ironies of the transfer of Crimea to Ukraine in 1954 is that when the chairman of the Presidium of the USSR Supreme Soviet, Kliment Voroshilov, offered his closing remarks at the session on 19 February 1954, he declared that “enemies of Russia” had “repeatedly tried to take the Crimean peninsula from Russia and use it to steal and ravage Russian lands.” He praised the “joint battles” waged by “the Russian and Ukrainian peoples” as they inflicted a “severe rebuff against the insolent usurpers.” Voroshilov’s characterization of Russia’s past “enemies” seems eerily appropriate today in describing Russia’s own actions vis-à-vis Ukraine. A further tragic irony of the Crimean transfer is that an action of sixty years ago, taken by Moscow to strengthen its control over Ukraine, has come back to haunt Ukraine today.
I don't like to argue blindly. 60 per cent of the population of Crimea consisted of ethnic Russians, while 24 per cent were Ukrainians and 10 per cent Crimean Tatars, the three most numerous groups.

Well, there wouldn't be any physical war. Yes, cold war would continue. Issue of crimea is not a major now. It is NATO membership. The main reason why Ukraine and Russia cannot be in the same page is different socio-economic policy- liberalism v socialism.
