It's our culture cheesy

Skirts are short and the pants tight.
No wonder that sexual violence is widespread over there. Though that's not an excuse for that... indecent dressing portrays women as sexual objects and some male "dogs" out there can hardly control themselves at the sight of that.

But your uncivilized, naked and woke slay queen ancestral and cultural mamas with jagajaga-straight hairs are saying hi.
Doing things with awareness, and without awareness are quite different. Moreover, on the pictures you posted, there is no where the primary private part (the vagina) was displayed, except the breast on some of the photos. This was as their knowledge could avail them at that time, and the breast was not seen as something sensitive but like every other part of the body (mind you, this was the period of high level of innocence) but they still considered it to cover up (to the best of their knowledge), even though a stranger will barely harass or prey on them. Far from it, it has nothing to do with body positivity as some of you erroneously said.

Another thing was that, women then were considered mere objects of intercourse, who don't necessarily have to look good and decent: they where mostly considered object of pleasure, procreation and child nurturing, reason you see the men dress more astute and decently than the women. That was also the reason polygamy was more common and gross (a man marrying over 5, 10 and more women) than our time.

But as civilization was growing, it became imperative to give women more inclusiveness and more dignity (beyond objects), and one of such means, was through a decent code of dressing to dignify them, and raise them beyond the power of 2.

Not to mention, this same civilization also increased the level of knowledge about the female body, and women were more aware of their body than before. Hence, the need for women to protect themselves against sexual predators that were on the rise, coupled with the fact that decency then became an honour and a quick means to get a suitor, as more focus was on a woman's character, attitude and virtue than going naked.

So, if our present society is now mimicking the old culture of naked fashion and traditions that was borne out of ignorance, the level of innocence and security then, including the sexual and procreational object the female gender was tagged (which makes the men frown at the birth of the girl child and celebrate the boy child), I won't be sorry to say that our present females considered their self as mere object of pleasure and procreation, hence they can serve as preys in the hands of wild men. They are of no use than this, then.

Common sense should tell us that a fragile level of security amidst ever increasing wild beast, should make us live in such a way that don't easily attract wild beast.

I can't be aware of an environment of phone thieves, and still flaunt my valued phone while walking pass such environment: though I might be robbed if the phone was concealed in my pocket, I will surely be robbed if I flaunt it.

Gracia.

I h8 the comments of Nigerians on this thread. God knows I do. Sighs. I ... *speechless* I'm really short of words.

How you GUYS just seem to want to legislate over morals and set up yourselves as the custodians of the perfect cultures and owners of hard work while your country is full of iniquity, misogyny, economic stagnation and innovation in ruins beat me.

undecided I really feel sad for y'all and what our parents have done to your psyches and what they had done to their psyches. A recycling generation of broken people. Hypocrites!!! Evil-hearted people.

You literally see any new fresh novel and harmless trend as a gateway to hell. How your lifeless souls are finding something to criticise in these pictures, I do not get. Like the most basic things is what you scream about. Mini skirts, leggings, leg chain, nose ring. And ironically the country is world's corruption and poverty HQ; senators get paid 'highest' in the world; child brides, FGM and number of out-of-school children, you're the champion. Such a gross lack of self-reflection and self-honesty from you lots. Lacking in empathy, lacking in emotional wellness. On one hand we have the ones feeling elitist, on the other we have those feeling xenocentric. Hian. Irritatingly peculiar people.

I swr, if psychological evaluations and psychiatric tests get carried out on most Nigerians... Lord. lipsrsealed
I love South Africans for their lack of hypocrisy and love for life.
Hypocrisy is a religion in NIgeria with the largest population of devotees.

I am sorry l am not sorry.
There are stupid cultures world over.
From wearing bombs to kill people so as to make heaven, to female genital mutilation, to honor killing. You shouldn't be this much upset cos yours is somewhat mildly less stupid. Culture should be dynamic. With time people stood against slavery, killing of innocent newborn twins. Maybe with time folks in SA will see reason to have their female minors more properly and decently clad.
We live on the hottest continent on the planet and you're here lecturing us that we should dress like we're in Europe where the Bible that brainwashed u originated.

it holds no meaning order than your own confusion.

What confuses you on my post is the term naked I used, which was not mention on your post... and I did that on purpose, as I knew before hand that you won't be able to decipher it. You are not ripe for that yet, and your oversabi will never let you.

You started with your justifiable reasons and later came up with some lame photos that doesn't hold any water as to your stance.

Though it was brilliant you were able to find pictorial evidence as a supposed counter to my claim, you only succeeded making more ridicule of your gender by not critically thinking through those pictures before attempting to shame me with them.

Such is the story of emotions and more emotions.
