Being neutral won't pay less developed countries like Nigeria in the long run,countries that are neutral during World War 2 and Cold War,remain weak nations today,but those that participated actively are among nations that are influential in the world politics of today.

You're right but a world War 3 is likely going to be different from every other wars that have been fought. It is the only war that both the countries fighting against each other would possess nuclear weapons. Which means if it goes nuclear, we're the ones that would be more vulnerable to nuclear strikes or even conventional missiles. All the countries fighting against each other might end up destroying each other. Our govt wouldn't be stupid enough to join such a war.

On an official basis, Nigeria and indeed Africa will not take any sides in WW3.

This is because the whole continent (except South Sudan) are members of the Non Aligned Movement(NAM).

In practice however is another matter.
