Europe is home to 44 countries , however this number is subjected to dispute as many claims the like of kazhakstan ,turkey etc are also in Europe.

However it is worthy to note even though technically Nigeria is richer than the likes of Romania, Ukraine, Czech republic, Bulgaria , Austria , Ireland, Norway, Denmark, Greece, Luxembourg , Portugal , Croatia, Belarus, Lithuania etc the standard of living in Nigeria is still poorer compared to those countries due to the corruption and mismanagement of funds in the country.

Pakisatan and New Zealand have the same gdp. Yet New Zealand's richer than Pakistan because Pakistan has a population 14 times that of New Zealand, if not much higher.

Nigeria has a gdp of 500 billion. Nigeria also has 211 million people. No European country has that high a population. Hence the GDP once divided is not much.

For Nigeria to be at par with euorpe we have to.raise our gdp. And it is not by selling oil or agriculture or minerals that we would achieve that

Hahahaha!

Comparing a tower of babel shithole with 200m people to European countries who are naturally partitioned by tribe and have population of 500k people.

Worst comparison ever.

Compare GDP per capita.

Higher GDP and lower standard of living. Even sudan has better standard of living than nigeria. Nigerians are fleeing to HAITI

That might be because you are not contributing towards the GDP.

After all, you should be reaping where you are sowing.

It's not GDP that determines a country's wealth, but its standard of living or its per capita income which is arrived at by dividing the GDP by the population.

How you make these incorrect assertions you all make with gusto and ignorance beggars belief!

Please take time off the unsocial media and nairaland, quit wasting your life and time, pick even ordinary o' level economics textbook and read.

It is because most of you are ignorant that most people in government do not take youths serious. They can easily see your ignorance.

GDP is the most popular and basic of all the parameters used to measure a nation's productivity and wealth. There are others like GDP per capita, Gini coefficient and more elaborate ones like HDI.

The poverty of people who are lazy and idlying away and wasting away for long on the social media is self inflicted.

Something tells me that it is low self esteem that makes you downplay the significance of Nigeria being richer than 73% of Europe.
You would probably be praising those countries if it is the other way around.

That GDP of Nigeria is even understated. By next year when the CBN e-evaluator would have started capturing most of our exports and imports, many of you will realize that your poverty in the midst of plenty is poverty of the choice of negative mindset, indiscipline and laziness.

There is a reason foreigners are trooping in . What you call problems and go on the social media to lament and go is the opportunity creating wealth for them and some resourceful Nigerians.

All that most of you want is easy and free money like crypto, ponzi, bet etc while your hearts are filled with bigotry and hatred for our leaders ,especially PMB.

Please amend your ways sir.
Here's free book on business ideas & money sources directory for you,it's 100% free! https://www.nairaland.com/6666800/looking-business-ideas-money-fund. Cheers.

You can't achieve any of that with a low and stagnant gdp, you build a bedrock of a successful nation with it's gdp and make sure it is evenly distributed, you can't effectively distribute something that isn't sufficient

Actually you're wrong, irrespective of how it is distributed the GDP nominal is the first way to measure a country's collective wealth.like the other guy said you can't distribute what you don't have

The word 'low' is relative. What you view as low might be viewed as high by the country concerned due to its population size. So, considering our population of 200m+, our GDP of $500B is low compared to another country with a GDP of $150B and a population size of 5m people.

You are an ignorant economic illiterate commenting on what you know nothing about.

Do you even know what 'GDP' means?

Have you calculated GDP per capita?

Or you think just because nation A has a 'higher GDP' than nation B means automatically that nation A should be ''doing better''?

Go and study what GDP and GDP per capita mean before coming here to blame ''corruption and mismanagement'' for your ignorance.

OP is dumb.

If I call 5 people laborers (set A) and dash them 5k.

Then call another set of laborers (set B) who are 500 in number and give them 10k.

Which set of laborers are richer?

This is why Nigeria will never develop. We have Hausa-Fulani and Yoruba Muslim low IQ quota system urchins voting and making decisions while actually knowledgeable people are relagated to the background.

What's the use of the $500b GDP when the ordinary nigerian masses doesn't even fill the impact? All those European countries with smaller GDP still have a far better quality of life than nigeria.

You're right, Nigeria's population is almost half of Europes ,but if the GDP was equally distributed Among it's people,it would have been enough to sustain the population
