Not so easy for students to start travelling up and down when it wasn’t sure there would be an attack.
Most of those guys you are seeing are survivors taking menial jobs to pay their tuition.
It is not out of place if they stay back hoping for the best.

It is not out of place if they stay back hoping for the best.

This is a good point for sure. A student with limited monetary means would not want to embark on costly road travel until it is irrefutably clear that staying put could become life-threatening.
