No nation on earth sanctioned U.S. and its partners when they killed millions in Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, Iraq, Afghanistan. It's an unfair world. Russia has security concerns that NATO has neglected and turned a blind eye against for years now they've been pushed to the wall and the west keep condemning them. Israel has killed thousands in Palestine and annexed their lands but the west always turns a blind eye. It's an unfair world.

US is a world power, so is Russia. US have over the years proven to be 100% smarter than Russia. I'm not absorbing the US of crime. But think about it, if you are in a battle of supremacy with another equally powerful empire, would you segregate yourself from the rest of the world, like Russia has always done, or would you carefully court and entice the rest of the world to get them on your side, like the US did?

The only reason Ukraine wants to join NATO, or at least the EU, is because of the long years of Russia constantly bullying them, denouncing their national sovereignty, threaten to invade, and even actually invading on 2 different occasions. If not for the bullying of Ukraine by Russia, Russia would have been the more sensible country for Ukraine to side with, due to the closeness and history of the two countries. But Russia's constant harassment practically pushed Ukraine to the point of wanting to side with NATO, or EU.

I don't blame US or the west. Naturally it is necessary for every country that want to remain world power to lobby to get as many allies as possible. It's not US fault that Russia refused to woo, or entice Ukraine properly.
