One thing I still don't understand is why Africans waited till last minute to flee Ukraine when the countdown to war began.

Putin gave them a clock before the gbege started.
If I were a foreigner in a country with that kind of clock on its head by a mad thug like Putin, I would have fled O. Especially since when things get hot, Ukraine will prioritize it's citizens over you. Why wait to become a second class citizen in a war?

No -one , including Africans expected that Russia would target several inner cities at the first strike.Even the people in the two separatist region thought Russians were coming only for them, with the purpose of completely cutting off the areas from Ukrainian troops and stay there.

Why would anyone, in their right mind, listen to the Nigerian government about a situation the Nigerian government has no power in?

And even if it did i.e at home, how much is life valued there?

If na me o, I for carry my bag jeje and head over to next country before bodies start to fall. You don't take those kind of risks!
