Rivers United maintained top spot in the Nigeria Professional Football League following a 1-1 draw against their hosts Remo Stars in Ikenne on Sunday, reports Completesports.com.

Andy Okpe gave the home team the lead on 10 minutes, while Chijoke Akuneto levelled scores for Rivers United two minutes before the break.


The two teams are still unbeaten in the NPFL this season.

Rivers United and Remo Stars have the same number of points (19), but the former have a superior goal difference.


Former champions Plateau United beat Abia Warriors 1-0 in Jos.

Albert Hilary netted the winning goal in the 67th minute.


At the Pantami Stadium, Gombe, Wikki Tourists defeated Nasarawa United 2-0.

Abubakar Aliyu and Anas Yusuf scored both goals for the hosts.

In Uyo, Rangers held Dakkada to a 0-0 draw moving to third position on the table.

NPFL: Gombe Utd End Remo Stars’ Unbeaten Run; Plateau Beat Kano Pillars Away


Remo Stars suffered their first defeat in the Nigeria Professional Football League this season after going down to a 1-0 defeat against Gombe United at the Pantami Stadium,

Ibrahim Yahaya scored the winning goal in the 15th minute


Plateau United recorded their first away win of the season edging out Kano Pillars 1-0 at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium, Kaduna.

The visitors got the winning goal through Sunday Anthony 17 minutes from time.


In Enugu, Rangers defeated Abia Warriors 2-1 in the oriental derby.

Kennedy Boboye Leaves Akwa United

Coach Kennedy Boboye has parted ways with reigning NPFL champions Akwa United after a run of poor results in the current Nigeria Professional Football League season.

Boboye walked away after Akwa United’s goalless draw at home against Heartland FC on match-day 12 in Uyo – their third successive draw at home in six matches.


Boboye who took over from Coach John Obuh in December 2019, led Akwa United to their first NPFL title last season but has failed to replicate that form after twelve rounds of matches this season in which his side has managed four victories, five draws and three defeats, leaving the club 8th on the log with 17 points from 12 games.

NPFL: Rivers United, Plateau United Win Away; Enyimba Down Remo Stars



Rivers United and Plateau United continued their push to win the 2021/22 Nigeria Professional Football League title after recording away wins on Wednesday, reports Completesports.com.

League leaders Rivers United maintained top spot on the table after edging out Kano Pillars 1-0 at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium, Kaduna.


Forward Nyima Nwagua scored the winning goal against his former club 20 minutes from time.

Plateau United defeated Lobi Stars 2-0 at the Aper Aku Stadium, Makurdi with Chimezie Izuchukwu and Albert Hilary scoring the goals.


Champions Akwa United beat Wikki Tourists 2-0 at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo.

Adamu Yakubu put the hosts in front in the 49th minute, while Leo Ezekiel doubled the advantage a minute later.


In Aba, Victor Mbaoma scored against his former club Remo Stars, who lost 2-1 against Enyimba.



Mbaoma put the former champions ahead in the 37th minute, while Ekene Awazie scored the second goal five minutes after the break

Junior Nduka reduced the deficit from the spot 20 minutes from time.

In Lafia, Nasarawa United rallied back from a goal down to draw 1-1 with Kwara United.

Alao Danbani’s 19th minute strike was cancelled out by Michael Tochukwu.

MFM boosted their survival hopes with a 1-1 away draw against Niger Tornadoes.

Richie Eguavoen opened scoring for MFM in the 15th minute, before Kabiru Adeniji levelled scores for the home team in the 37th minute.

At the Dipo Dina Stadium, Ijebu Ode, Sunshine Stars outclassed Heartland 3-1, while Gombe United pip Abia Warriors 1-0 at the Pantami Stadium.

Katsina United recorded biggest win of the day thrashing Dakkada 4-1 at the Muhammadu Dikko Stadium.

Rivers United and Plateau United maintained their impressive run in the Nigeria Professional Football League after winning their respective games on Sunday, reports Completesports.com.

In Port Harcourt, Joseph Onoja bagged a brace as Rivers United pip Shooting Stars 2-0.


Buhari Ibrahim scored from a diving header deep into stoppage time as Plateau United defeated hard fighting Katsina United 1-0 in Jos.

Remo Stars kept pace with the frontrunners by thrashing Sunshine Stars 3-0. in Ikenne.


Andy Okpe scored a brace, while Seun Ogunribide was also on target for Gbenga Ogunbote’s side.

Holders Akwa United were held to a 0-0 draw by Abia Warriors at the Umuahia Township Stadium.


In Lagos, Kwara United recorded the only win of the day edging out MFM 2-1 in Lagos.

The visitors raced into a two-goal lead courtesy of goals from Junior Lokosa and Alao Danbani.

Elijah Akanni scored MFM’s only goal of the game.

Former champions Enyimba fell to a 2-0 defeat against Dakkada in Uyo.

Edidiong Ezekiel and Aniekpan Ekpe were on target for Dakkada in the game.

Kano Pillars eased their relegation worries courtesy of a 2-0 wiln against Nasarawa United.

Mark Daniel opened scoring for the hosts in the first minute, while Ifeanyi Eze added the second four minutes before the break.

At the Tafawa Balewa Stadium, Bauchi, Wikki Tourists defeated Lobi Stars 1-0 with Abubakar Aliyu scoring the winner on 12 minutes.
