I dabbled in blogging so permit my writing as I'm not very good with words. I never have been, mostly I get tongue-tied and my words get tangled. So let's do best understand as we go on to and narrate a personal innovative experience on the internet. I've been a member of NL for decade now, and felt the growth within before considering to open this thread. I'll be updating through your thoughts and shares about internet, Blockchain technology. I was opportuned enough to witness the inception of internet locally within the average Nigerian state (Abia) in 2004, but fully in 2005 after my WAEC. Having worked/served as a cafe attendant in 2007, we witnessed the influx of the youths into internet fraud popularly known as (Yahoo Yahoo). During the period, it wasn't all worth venturing, as there were abundance of opportunities littered over the internet space.

INNOVATION: Innovating the internet, I grabbed and followed up how the internet swept through, mainly moving from a regular Computer services; desktop, Laptop and cyber cafe world to our mobile phones, then Java, Symbians to China mobile etc.

Technology affects almost every ascept of 21st century life, as part of life as we all know, technology brings innovation and changes, whether we're ready for it or not. Following the trends of internet we graduated from Web 1.0, to Web 2.0 and now Web 3.0. Going from posting, working, creating and doing lots of things on the internet. In enters Blockchain technology which includes digital currency Cryptocurency, within the internet. Lucky few saw the opportunity and the cash (money)to join in within 2009-2011 Bull Run and got huge rewards (Profits) and benefits as early adopter's. Most internet users due to no capital, right source and risk management, missed the opportunity. Blockchain/ Cryptocurency as part of the internet which almost every internet user is making use of today, as an income base system. Yet we find many neglecting, arguing, brandishing it fraud, scam without truly learning, research and understanding what it's all about in it's true nature, a digital currency for the internet. Naijaloaded comes to mind, during the early blog days Naijaloaded was a hit site/forum providing the masses updates, news, music, Network cheat codes and movie downloads. before Nairaland took center stage, gained ground on the Nigerian internet space. Fast forward to 2022, Naijaloaded in my opinion don't match Nairaland's traffic and popularity. Yet Nairaland feels reluctant to change and keep innovating as the internet pushes towards Web 3.0.

Blockchain technology; Cryptocurency, Web3.0, NFTs and the Metaverse are all what we internet users should tap into. Government wouldn't have that for different reasons doesn't make them illegal. Smart folks see that, that's why they're all positioning, learning, Innovating, earning while lots of you are doubting and badmouthing like we always do in Nigeria and Nairaland.

While you wait, please get familiar with some crypto terminologies:

FOMO: Fear of Missing Out
This means entering a trade because you see that it's pumping. Most times you end up buying the top. Which means you enter while others who entered early are exiting. So price goes down instead of going up. So when they say "Don't FOMO", it means don't chase every pump.

HODL: Means hold, don't sell yet. Or could mean person plans to hold the position for a long time not minding short term price fluctuations. They believe it will be worth it. Hold on to dear life.

EXCHANGE: An exchange is anywhere you can buy and sell crypto. Can be centralised exchanges (cex) like Binance or decentralised exchanges (dex) like Uniswap.

BULL: Someone expecting price to go higher.

BEAR: Someone expecting price to go lower.

BULL MARKET: When market keep seeing an uptrend leading to new highs.

BEAR MARKET: Continuous downtrend leading to new lows.

TOTAL SUPPLY: Highest number of tokens that'll ever exist.

MARKET CAP: Total number of tokens in circulation multiply by price of token.

FUD: Fear, Uncertainty and Doubt

The good thing is that most of you are entering the Crypto space when Bitcoin is bleeding red. That is a good thing. Lots of good coins/token to buy. When BTC rises from its dip, you will print Benjamins with little stress. Stay tuned

Today we are on 5G globally but we didn't start from here. We can all recall 2G on our Symbian phones, 3G on our blackberry & Android devices 4G & now, the super 5G.

Over the years, these upgrades have been made to the reception of the internet to enhance user base bandwidth.

The internet as whole too has been upgraded but the majority of us didn't know it either. We started with Web 1.0, then 2.0 came and now, we are on Web 3.0.

Web 1.0 was from the year 1990 to year 2005.

This was the era of INFORMATION ECONOMY . All we could do on the internet at this time was read what was uploaded & nothing more.

Web 2.0 came in 2005 - 2020.
This brought about the PLATFORM ECONOMY

This brought about social media, smart phones, the apps you use today & more. As a result of web 2, we could read, write & socialize on the internet. It gave birth to cloud computing & platforms.

But the problem with web 2.0 was also what made it fun - platforms.
Companies like Facebook, Spotify, YouTube, etc had too much control, they could harvest user dater as they wanted, sell them, etc. They also largely controlled our ability to make money on the internet because all our activities are reported back to their severs because we signed up on websites using Google, using Facebook using Twitter, using Apple ID. We could do nothing without alerting these giants.

But in 2021 came Web 3.0 & this gave birth to the Blockchain internet. As a result of this, we now sign up for websites using our wallets - Metamask, Trust Wallet, Binance & co. Web 3.0 gave the power the tech giants of Web 2.0 had back to the people.

Web 3 is decentralized meaning that no single individual, government or corporation has power over it. It exits because of phones & computers around the world.

Every phone is a computer that keeps the blockchain alive & to shut down the blockchain, you would have to dead every phone, laptop, pads, etc in the world.

This would be an impossible feat if you ask me.


ADVANTAGES OF WEB 3.0

1.Access to Information

2. Elimination of the Central Point of Control (that is, decentralization).

3. The Permissionless Blockchain

4. Uninterrupted Service, etc.


It is of great importance that you have this as foundational knowledge as it would assist you in your adventure with NFTs & the Metaverse.

We will now go into these two & see how these the elements correlate - WEB 3.0, NFTs, & The Metaverse.

80% out of the 34Million crypto enthusiasts in Nigeria are going to be financially liberated by 2025… if only they can be patient, plus , smart enough to choose/position correctly when #bitcoin    drops below $12k…

Honest opinion on the state of the crypto market.

Don't buy any token except you're buying for long term. If you already bought some tokens, just wait for the long term.

The only thing you should be doing this period if you want to make quick money is hustling pre sale, NFT Whitelist and maybe trading futures.

Sha remember that the same way bull market ended and bear market began, it's the same way bear market will end soon and bull market will begin.

Spot on, that's one of my main reason following up the thread. The link up info now clearly opens up more simpler and easy understanding of Blockchain technology, crypto down to web 3.0. Interesting read op too bad nairaland mods don't appreciate threads like this on front page, they rather push fake and propagating political news just for views and bigotry
