No, we are not suffering

This is the logical conclusion of underpaying both the power and petroleum sector in the name of subsides for over 5 decades because , poverty

When you pay N162 for something thag really costs 300 naira and above per liter, and when you pay 71 naira for something that costs 83 naira and above per kwh, this is what you get. Bad service, sabotage, corruption, etc. All because you do not pay the money that these sectors need to operate fully.

We have GSM because in the days of bad service, we paid them what they demanded, and at the end they used the profit they made to fix up our working telecoms sector with no gofment money

Even the yam you buy , you can buy it because your farmer gets to sell the yam at the price he or she wants.

So why can't we pay the petroleum and power sector the prices they want to set? Not the prices government sets for them so that they.can pay subsidy that is insufficient?

We don't have light and petrol because we do not want to pay them their price. And thus they cannot make a profit that they would use to give us what we want

You cannot pay for power and petrol below their cost of production and expect good power supply and good qulaity petrol produced from good quality refineries. At the end, you end up with a mess.

This time, let's be realistic. Years of subsides are not helping us. Let's pay the market price for petrol and power. YES....I KNOW....PRICES WILL GO UP AND WE WILL ALL STARVE.....but things will work better , and we may even get more investment, more jobs, more revenue in form of export revenue and taxation revenue...SO THAT WE DO NOT STARVE FOLKS...and eventually lower prices.

shocked

I'm still bemused at how some people (Youths for that matter) in their right senses, still find their voices in the defense of this present catastrophic government, and are proud doing it.

Heaven would've fall if it's still goodluck Jonathan that's in power.
The youths don't know any better, as all that was required was to destroy the education sector & the country would be left with docile and ignorant populace.

Is this not the deluded fellow who wants the grand thief Amaechi to come and rule us?

A man who stole Rivers state blind just so he could donate to APC to help get rid of Jonathan

FYI, Ben Bruce is a more honourable man than Amaechi can ever be in this life and the next.

Amaechi, a man that worked so hard against the good of his people to be seen as subservient to the North.

A man that spent billions on a short railtrack to nowhere in PH!

A man that has regained many times what he spent on Buhari's campaign in the last 7 yes through inflated contracts.

I'm personally aware of a dirty deal Amaechi is involved in at the Railway Compound Yaba.

Rubbish

Also wasn't it you that wrote a 10,000 word essay insulting people who said that Russia was going to invade Ukraine?

From your bedroom you knew more than everyone who has been closely watching these events for years.

Also, I noticed that you seem incapable of delivering logical arguments when people disagree with you.

It's either you cancel their post or you drop your two favourite memes. One of the guy kicking another one and the other one you keep repeating.

That tells me you are probably in your early 20s and are at that stage in life where you think only your own poorly thought out opinions matter and everyone else who thinks differently from you is dumb.

You dare call Ben Bruce an arsehole yet want us to vote Amaechi?

Mtscheww.

Sometimes I wonder what Nigerians benefits from Nigeria.
Subsidized education in government schools, and subsided health care in government hospitals

Also, you don't pay as high as you should for power. And roads are not tolled

Finally, as a worker in the informal sector, you are less likely to pay income tax to government

(And no, I am not here to defend or hail Buhari, I have a bookload of reasons why he is a bad leader)

I can see through your shortcut to a beautiful answer and your textbook twisted solution to a man-made problem.

It's because you do not like my answer that you resorted to abuse.

I really expected better from you. I have been reading your answers for some time, and I thought you were better than this. Your response is very childish and immature.

Anyway

1.Google Solving the liquidity problem in the power sector...a report by PWC on why the power sector has problems. It;s where I got my commentary on the power sector from(LINK IS HERE)

2.Also, on petrol...my epiphany came in 2012, when I discovered we were importing fuel at 99 naira and selling it at 65 naira, which is why GEJ wanted to remove subsidy. I was not his fan, but all of a sudden is N140 per liter increase made a lot of sense. I began reading.

Good morning, and I must really express my disappointment in your response to me.I thought you knew better.

My comments are the result of ten years of reading and thinking, and yes, it is still a work in progress.

P.S There is nothing textbook about saying that if you do not let a business run at a profit it won't run well. If you were a retailer and you sold at a loss, would you have a business after some time. That we even have a power and petrol sector after years of sellingat a loss is due to subsidy which is insadequate. And causing us budget deficit.

Yesterday I bought diesel at N415/litre. Today it's N445/litre & nobody is talking. The food supply who uses trucks to transport food stuffs from the north to other parts of the country will now increase the price of his goods. The industrialist who uses diesel powered gen sets will increase price of his goods. The hotelier who uses diesel powered gen sets has to increase his rooms rates so he can make profit.

Diesel has been deregulated since 2013, hence the increase in price.

As if Nigerians did not experience such or worse when he and his party people were in power.

From time to time Nigerian politicians has been deceiving the masses on how they will build refinery and have stable electricity.
Obasanjo as tough as he is tried to turn around NEPA but all na wash, $16dollars went down the drain up till today nobody has been sued or jailed on this matter.

Politicians oppositions always play to gallery when they themselves are not pure

As in, I jus laugh alot of time when I think about this shenanigans befalling the nation and we have citizens who can't rise up against bad governance, you see everyone acting Asif life is sweet for them. Many are only keyboard warrior and after they go to sleep and to be honest, the youth need who can lead them against this rogues who kept them all perpetually poor for decades.

Look, what will happen will happen at the end, what we are all looking for is on the other side of fear. Nigerian's are no longer fearful they just need a leader in whom they can trust to lead them against this rouges who have crippled nation economy for decades on the basis this structure that was designed to fail from the beginning.

Look, no country as ever prospered either without a great leader or a popular revolt.

This is no longer news Ben, you have always been active in talking and putting out state ment but will that solve the Nigerian and it's economics problems?, Everybody know that this structure as been designed to fail by this politician's and their colonial masters.

And stop pretending to be suffering too, you have everything you need at your disposal none of you should be trusted. You and your folks can't be making wicked economy policy and expect growth it is futile ..

Politicians are Nigerian's problems, Nigeria problems are Nigerian's ..
