We managed to renegotiate to lower so many salaries and had new players take pay cuts to join us in the name of fiscal responsibility and because we were struggling financially.

To turn around and splash a huge sum of money on a new player and give him an enormous salary is essentially a slap in the face to all the players who lowered their own salaries over the past year.

It will make it very difficult to offer lower salaries in good faith to the rest of the team and feed resentment.
