Please tell me how he is plunging his country into a war with Russia, when Russia was the country that invaded his country? That's like Cameroon invading Nigeria and you say it's the fault of Nigeria.

Let's keep in mind this is not the first time that same Russia (the aggressor) invaded Ukraine in 2014 when they annexed part of their territory and began funding rebels in the east of the country. So if you were a leader of an independent sovereign country, you will bend over to another nation's demands in the hopes they stop invading, even though their track record has suggested otherwise??

Ukraine is among the top five most poorest countries in Europe. Economic growth and prosperity should have been the top national priority for a country with such an unfortunate outlook.

All Ukraine have to do was to declare neutrality in the conflict between NATO & Russia by simply joining non alliance countries. By so doing they can work with both Western countries and Russia/China bloc and become free to focus primarily on their economic upliftment.

Putin is not interested in annexing Ukraine, his only concerned with Ukraine was her forming of "military alliance" with the West(his arch enemy), which is clearly a legitimate concern. Ukraine joining NATO is obviously a threat to the existence of Russia.

Putin even acted lately, If I were him, I would've acted earlier. No Western country will condone such threat. That was the same reason America invaded Iraq and Afghanistan. That was the same reason Israel has been threatening to invade Iran if they didn't halt their uranium enrichment.

Don't fall for to the Western media propaganda and their govt's hypocrisy. America will even do worse than what Russia is doing today if they were to face such an existential threat. Remember America's threat to invade Cuba during the Cuba missile crisis of 1962.

Imagine Zelensky making joining a military group(NATO) a top national priority not even an "economic group" which the country badly needed. And you think that guy is normal?

Interesting. Well, on Ukraine wanting to join NATO, I think that's a chicken and egg situation. Russia has been a constant threat to Ukraine (and its other neighbours) (not the the other way round) for aeons before Putin and Zelensky were born. NATO would obviously give Ukrainians some rest of mind about that matter. Hence the desire to join. Given this fact, I doubt Zelensky would have won any medals from his countrymen for declaring that Ukraine is anti-NATO. But you say Russia acted because Ukraine wanted to join NATO. Interesting.

You say you're surprised Putin didn't act earlier. Well, he did - remember he took Crimea in 2014? Difference is that he's decided to take the whole country now by effecting a regime change through war.

Personally, I don't see Ukraine jointing NATO as a big deal. I don't set much stock by the idea of Russia being surrounded. You know why? Because Russia is already surrounded. The Baltic states and several other former Warsaw Pact countries have joined NATO. Why is Ukraine special? Something else is at play. Note that Zelensky never actually took active steps to join. No accession talks are ongoing. No invitation has been extended by NATO to the country.

First, I applaud your writing skills. you sound like someone I can have a good chat here on NL, I agree with most of the things you said but there are a few things I dont agree with. You are right about Putin's concerns with Ukraine joining NATO. But I want to point out to you that even though that is the pretext of this war, just like America's pretext of invading Iraq was WMD, The Ukrainian president clearly stated that he had no interest in joining NATO when russia started amassing its military on the borders of Ukraine.

let me give you the skinny on this matter, When Russia annexed Crimea, the one thing that they overlooked was Ukraine's power over the water supply in Crimea. Ukraine built a dam and this threatened the existence of Crimea. the first thing the Russian Army did was to destroy the dam. What Putin want is to re-invent the days of the USSR, he wants Ukraine, Moldova, and possibly Poland. He already has Belarus.

In as much as I support the Ukrainian people, Russia will take the country. but taking a country and holding it are 2 different things. trust me I saw that first hand.
