It really isn't. The governments of Europe have genuine concerns of the triggering of war in their backyard. They are desperate to stop Putin at all costs. It's not only Abrahmovic being targeted and even if it was, the Man deserves it. He has a strong hand in propping up the Putin regime.

My own is that the UK has to consider the fans and workers. They can't allow a top club to sink.

They should get out.

The sanctions on the club makes no sense and it is a bridge taken too far.

Which will be very suicidal for him.
Someone who was ready to give the proceeds of the sale of the club to the Ukrainian victims of the war what other way screams I am not in support of this war

If he's really ready to do this then let him allow the sale of Chelsea to go through without getting the proceeds. Enough of his posturing. We'll see how well he loves the club now.

At the height of the pandemic when Stamford Bridge was a sanctuary for NHS workers all these idiots cropping up like mushrooms after a downpour were all clapping and cheering on Roman.

The same UK have clubs that are owned by Qatari and Saudi Arabian investors, one of which was a very recent purchase.

Lmao.

Don't mind them this is how they pay an investor that has brought money for them..

Lotl $3b to charity... Even Bible nor do this kind giveaway.
Forget all that shit is audio.
In the heart of the average oligarchs, the Ukrainians can rot in hell.
Roman is clever, Chelsea is valued at 3b, the club owes him 1.5b, when he said that he intended to sell the club, technically he is due 4.5b, so if he forgives the debt, he still gets a minimum of 3b +/-

When I saw people quoting billions as giveaway, I kept quiet cause I didn't want to arm donjazet

Chelsea is a privately-owned entity, and as such the value is largely arbitrary.

And he had already said every single penny of profit would be donated to Ukrainian war victims.
I don't know what else you want him to do short of effectively committing suicide by condemning the war in the open.

How do you even sanction a loss making venture ?
Someone elaborate more on this.
Won't this sanction affect the clubs workers more than even Roman that they are after ?

agreed but there is a defined value, you can't say that the brand is worth less than someone is willing to pay for it

I don't know the maths for the profits, he didn't state that, he is definitely not giving billions to charity, the fact that legal proceedings are even being discussed by his lawyers indicate that, guess that he planned to give a portion of the profit, but how can you define profit in this case? He wouldn't seek legal proceeding chasing his initial investment

Was he not already on this path before this sanction ?
March 15th was the deadline I think and there are multiple bids according to media report, so I wonder where you are getting your "posturing" argument from.

Egbon, he bought the club for 140 million pounds. Anything above that can be marked as profits, before you adjust for Inflation and depreciation of assets and other such stuff.
And he already agreed to forgive the loan.

Tbh I don't know what else y'all want. Roman is definitely not a saint, but he is not the aggressor here.

What do those 3 countries you mentioned have in common??
They are all countries with autocratic regimes that doesn't fulfill it's duties to protect it's own citizens.
Something you cannot accuse the west of not doing. The way me and you are here comfortable enough to sit at our homes and curse and condemn buhari as much as we like is a privilege citizens of those countries do not enjoy.

Now a tyrant who has no one in his way, who oversees one of the world's largest stockpile of nuclear weapons is acting erratically. Surely, we would ally ourselves with the western governments and support their actions in curbing this menace.

The British government are well within their right to sanction corrupt oligarchs who sponsor Putin, we can accuse them of hypocrisy of accepting it in the first place but at the end, it's better late than never.

How does giving up his billion dollar investment for nothing show his love for “Chelsea” as a club?

HE was the one who was posturing as being ready to sell the club for no personal profit. Now the club and it's image is in big trouble because of him. If he loves the club as he claimed, his best course of action is to sell immediately. The last statement he sent out, he said and I quote, "this was never about business for me". He essentially said he was willing to forfeit income, let him prove it now.

Was Kennedy acting erratically when he invaded Cuba? Who has been acting erratically to sign trade deals with Saudi Arabia even after admitting to killing Jamal Khashoggi?
Why are the US initiating talks with Maduro? What has been happening in Yemen and Lebanon? Palestine?

In whose interests were NATO acting during the invasion of Libya? Afghanistan?

Chief, your altruism is admirable, but it is sadly misguided.

Let me first point out, that a noticable mistake you and havertz10 have been making for a while now is conflating America with the UK.
They are Allies but are still very much 2 different countries who make their own independent choices. The US has nothing to do with today's decision about Abrahmovic, Chelsea and others. It's totally on the British government, All their actions today will reverberate around their own country.

Secondly, as I stated earlier, most of the actions of the Western world in the last 20 years have been geared mostly towards Antiterrorism efforts. With the benefit of hindsight, we are now able to see that they made serious blunders in that effort, but after 9\11, there really wasn't a western citizen who didn't think it was time to act swiftly and decisively in cutting out the growing threat of Islamic terrorism that was propping up globally.

If they could hit America in her homeland, everybody could see sense that nowhere was safe and joined the chorus of egging America to do something.

Again, surely a Nigerian who continues to suffer the effects of this same terrorists group can share the sort of sentiments these western democracies felt, what is now going on in niger, Maiduguri, kastina, sokoto, taraba and the bombings that took place in Abuja is exactly what they were terrified of.

We cannot surely hold a grudge against that. I keep saying it, the western governments do more good than harm.

Pat Nevin has just said on @bbc5live that some Chelsea staff have been 'partially laid off already'. The players will be fine so don't worry about them... but do worry about the impact this will have on others who rely on the club.
