Ghana is not even in the first 5 in Africa. Also, Ghana redenomimated its cedis in 2007 by knocking off 4 zeros and the new cedi has lost almost 10 times in value.

Last year, Ghana ran out of fx that it took Imf saving them yet this was same Ghana that had its debt written off by imf few years ago.

Ghana has new oil discovery unfortuately it still did not help Ghana's fdi. I honestly worry for Ghana because they are my brothers and sisters too. Comparing Nigeria to Ghana is unfair to Ghana when the worth of the top 10 billionaires in Nigeria is worth more than the GDP of Ghana.

That is why I am telling you not to play to the gallery if you have Governors like Prof Ayade and Prof. Soludo. Go to the real substance of governance, check them.out under HDI parameters and keep eyes on him dispassionately.
As we type here, there are some parameters under the HDI that you will be shocked to know that Lagos towers over Isreal and about 75% of the countries in Europe and most countries in Asia.
If you are from Anambra, monitor Prof Soludo well . Do not make the mistakes Cross Rivers people made with Ayade.

I am out of this debate. I wish HE Soludo and Anambra all the best of luck
Stop trying to be smart the link you shared is for Fintech start ups and i said that one is apart. If you want to be sincere go and bring the link that shows the cities that are top destinations for FDI Lagos is not even above Dakar talk of Accra or Jo'burg or Kigali/Casablanca

One thing i always believe in is being realistic. The guys like you that love to hype Lagos as number one capital do this out of ignorance, If not for the Fintech revolution of the likes of Flutterwave and Co Lagos FDI would have drastically dwindled. There are a lot of factors that is making investment in Lagos dwindle. First apart from the falling crude oil revenue which has limited Nigeria's risk rating, there is the issue of ease of doing business which is a general problem, but it is so bad in Lagos, the multiple taxations alone is enough to kill business and the high cost of real estate which to me is very hard to explain how a state that has a very low per capita income compared to the biggest cities in Africa has one of the highest real estate cost in the world(some places in VI and Ikoyi charge rent in USD). Manufacturing is all but dead in Lagos and don't get me started with these guys that just built a factory, because in the next few years if our purchasing power is still at this level the company will reconsider, just as P&G did few years back with their factory in Agbara.
The only annoyance is that Ogun state has failed to be smart and proactive if not they would have been the biggest beneficiaries and people will see the reality of how bad policies are killing business in Lagos. If any state in close proximity with Lagos gets it right business wise you will see massive exodus of business and people from Lagos.

And this means all the previous anambra governors didn't have 50 yr vision.

I feel unease about how young people think in Nigeria because the political class has destroyed our psyches.

In same countries, they have 50-year plan. They work towards achieving that plan. That's why the US, for instance, will always be ahead of the rest of the world.

Yes, they make long-term plans and invest into research that will make those visions a reality.
All the dickheads making noise on this thread and ridiculing this bold and visionary move by the Anambra State gov’t….all of them are part of the usual greedy, self-serving, bigoted, visionless and anywhere-belle-face Nigerian electorate! So expecting them to see the benefits in having a long-term vision and approach to development is expecting too much from them!

Greedy Nigerian politicians think only of the next election….while Statesmen and visionary leaders think of the next generation!

I agree with you that Lagos is overrated. Number one it's overcrowded number two the income does not match up with expenses which is a sign of a failing/failed state

That is the harsh reality these Tinubu image launderers avoid to talk about they keep over hyping Lagos forgetting that the situation of Lagos with respect to other states in Nigeria is likened to the one eyed man being a king in the land of the blind.

Good one. Even the FG needs a good template to work on. Though all still depends on successive governments. Thankfully, Soludo is next in line.
All these are waste of precious time and resources.

While it is good to have a governance, if you like, a developmental guide for a state, the big issue is, is there any law that criminalizes deviation from such development plan.

What will happen if a governor emerges and decides to execute his own programs outside of the state's development roadmap? That is the issue. It is not all about having a development plan.

What sort of development plan disenfranchises its people by not conducting LG elections and allowing the people choose their leaders, at the lowest level of government?

Shey, you can see that the document is nonsense? Does the document address the lack of transparency in IGR collection and utilization?

These are nothing but facades. I prefer a yearly, thorough prepared, high human impact, and strictly implemented budget to all the compilation of intangible hogwash being paraded all over the media.

Soludo is drawing 70 year plans. Did Obiano and Obi work without plans? Or why is he not ready to continue from where they stopped?
Obiano signed several MOUs, let Soludo implement the terms. Everything is not to be crying like a baby. Man up and argue like someone with brain.
Peter Obi had short-term plans.
Obiano had no plan at all.
He signed MOUs that he was not ready to implement and he didn't keep to the terms of those MOUs.
So, what is there to Soludo to implement?
Would he rush to implement MOUs without doing full feasibility studies of such MOUs?

You are a complete mad man. So Obiano had no plan but he delivered an international airport in 18 months, something that hasn't happened in the history Africa. He has no plan but he delivered on worldclass international airport, built stadium, roads, bridges, flyovers, etc. How was it Obiano's fault that investors that came to partner government failed to fulfill their part of deal? Aside that many more MOUs came through, like Awka Millennium city, and many others.

Re: Soludo Submits Anambra State's “VISION-2070” Perspective Development Plan by Kaneneaya: 5:01pm On Mar 11, 2022
The Vision-2070 is a welcome development. It's important that the document be given to all schools in Anambara State to be taught as part of the curriculum. The Anambara people need to know the plan of their state for the future. This will avoid the mindless developments you find in other states where flyovers are celebrated as development. Anyone running for governor in Anambara must adopt the plan and be judged by how well he implemented the plan.
Re: Soludo Submits Anambra State's “VISION-2070” Perspective Development Plan by Kaneneaya: 5:34pm On Mar 11, 2022
For purposes of enlightenment, I would like to highlight areas of Obiano's achievement that impressed me;
1. Infrastructure - (a) The international airport, the best in Nigeria with satellite landing system, the technology that enables America to land planes on their aircraft carriers anywhere in the world. (b) 10,000 international conference center, one of the best in Nigeria. This can help make Anambara the entertainment center of West Africa. (c) A lot of road networks for easy movement from one end of the state to the other.
2. Lighting up of Anambara State. Major streets in Anambara have streets light.
3. Education. Anambara is now competing at an international level. For many years Anambara students have been wining many awards, both nationally and internationally. America has now set up a cultural center in the State with the sole purpose of luring these students to America where they will join people like me in the country for more than 40 years, helping to keep America number one in the technology sector. I'm most excited about the 12 technical schools Obiano built which will be producing up to 9,000 graduates a year. Technical education was what helped China to develop so fast. Chinese are today considered as mater builders and manufacturers.
4. Agriculture; Under Obiano, rice production rose from 85,000 metric tons to 530,000 metric tons surpassing the state consumption of 330,000 metric tons. More that 2,000,000 metric turns in casava production. Fish farming and animal husbandry are areas that are currently getting attention from the state government.

No wonder America and Britain voiced concern during attempted rigging of Anambara governorship election because of their interest in the State.
