Laolu Akande, Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Office of the Vice President, has reacted to rumours that Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has informed his principal, President Muhammadu Buhari of his purported intention to join the presidential race in 2023.

Earlier, there was report the VP purportedly told President Buhari of his desire to take over from him at the expiration of his tenure in 2023 to consolidate the achievements they recorded since they took over from the opposition PDP in 2015.

Reacting, Mr Laolu in an exclusive with Quest Times Monday, said, “Activities of the VP would be communicated officially. All of these issues would become clear soon. Watch out”.

Though Osinbajo is yet to declare his intention to run for the office of president in 2023, many support groups and individuals have sprung up rooting for him.

The groups have been going round the country and sponsoring adverts in print and broadcast media urging the vice president to contest.

We are actually watching as things unfold reason why I have been avoiding jumpology on any thread related to 2023 presidency.

SW will definitely produce a consensus candidate which we will all rally around..

Osinbajo shouldn't disgrace himself .Me personally will not vote anyone else except Tinubu.

I will not vote anyone who is directly connected with this 8 years of Buhari’s administration.

APC should keep brainstorming then some of us who share this opinion might have a rethink otherwise, I would rather vote a candidate who might not even come 5th

Osinbanjo should do what he has to do now. We blame councilors, governors, senators, the president and even his wife for the problems we face today, but we don't want to blame the vice president, the second in command. If buhari and Osinbanjo can not do what they have to do now, then they are both failures.
