Lithium "may" be dangerous, but it doesn't make lead batteries any less prone to explosion as well. It also doesn't suppress the fact that Lithium is the future of the battery function of renewable energy. Lithium is lighter, very amenable/flexible to different applications, can afford to be deep discharged safely (to as low as 80%, unlike lead acid where you are advised not to go below 50% so it doesn't die premature) and has much more cycles compared to lead acid batteries. Na just the money kill am. Once I see better bar now, na to upgrade to Lithium straight!...

You are missing my point. I am saying we are anyhow people in Nigeria. And we cut all sorts of corners. Almost everything sold in this country is a low quality imitation. Safety margins are routinely shaved. Failsafes are removed. Which is why you start seeing strange and odd behavior.

The regular lead acid batteries sold in Nigeria have issues because thier quality has been reduced. Now imagine someone selling lithium batteries in Nigeria where there is no regulation. Safety features and margins will be stripped out. Same way they kept on upping the methanol in fuel sold in Nigeria until we got here

I said amazon banned Chinese hover boards from thier marketplace. This is the reason. Because the risk of substandard lithium batteries is too high.

First of all, tubular batteries should NOT be used in enclosures as they emit gases.

Secondly, they are not maintenance free as you will have to topping them up with distilled water on a quarterly basis thereabout.

Finally, most tubular batteries have a difficult charging algorithm. You need a charging system that can constantly pump high voltages and current into your tubular batteries otherwise they will be undercharged. The solar thread is fraught with users who have had issues with this charging algorithm.

This is not to say that they are bad or not advisable (afterall my sister used hers for 3 years [without good care] before they packed up) but it is good for folks to know the pros and cons of batteries before they invest.

Yes, you are very correct about placing them in enclosed places because of the gases they emit .
But what do you think ? Are they generally longer lasting than dry cell batteries ,( if properly maintained of course) ?

It will either be a hacked drive reading 64gb when it is actually much less (4gb/8gb), or a cheapo chinko drive that will fail on you and cost you all your data.

you actually can get them for less than 2k on AliExpress. 128gb is less than 2k, and it hasn’t failed yet after 2 years for me. shipping takes two weeks for paid delivery (1760 naira) and a month for free delivery.
