LAGOS – Former Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Bayo Onanuga, has lamented the epileptic power supply in the country and called on all elected and appointed leaders to resign.

In a post on his official Facebook page, Onanuga also said Nigeria should be outsourced to better managers as her leaders have so far demonstrated incompetence in managing her affairs.

Sharing his experience, he said: “I came to my office today to work. But I can’t work. No public power. Our generator refused to start. We suspect it is down with fatigue. My windows are open, with my ears deafened by the roars of generators in nearby offices.

“I am now sweating because the windows at one side of my office have had to be shut. Poisonous gas from one of the generators nearly killed me.

“Can we please outsource this country to better managers since our leaders have proven incurably incompetent to manage our affairs?

“As I write this, Ukraine comes to mind, a country at war still managing to provide power, water, and all the essentials of governance.

“And here, as Fela sang decades ago, water, light, foodoooo, we do not have.

“Apologies will not assuage the ruins of incompetence to our nation. The appropriate thing is for the leaders, appointed or elected to resign.”
