I dont know about the north but akamkpa LGA in cross river is the biggest in terms of land area in the south.the largest ward in Nigeria is now tudun wada/kabong.it has 187 polling units and many LGAs have less units.Rigasa in Kaduna,gama in kano,worji in rivers a and ugborodo in delta are also worthy of mention...

I don't know about the largest local government, but Toto local government in Nasarawa State is the best local government in Nigeria.

Birnin Gwari Kaduna is the largest local government in Nigeria

I need to confirm this though, but its known, that Birnin Gwari is 3 times the size of Lagos
