Cryptocurrency trading is not illegal in Nigeria. This was contained in a judgement between Risevest Technologies and CBN. The Federal High court pointed that the CBN had failed to discharge the burden of proof neither did they produce any law that criminalises dealing in cryptocurrency. Further more, trading of cryptocurrency cannot be held to be illegal based on mere circular by CBN. The court further discharged the interim freezing order against Risevest Technologies.
