The Bible verse you quoted does not support whatever he preached. The Pastor only spoke what the Bible says and didn't just say this on his own. He also spoke against a killer marriage.

Now, on the subject matter divorce. The Bible is absolutely clear that God hates divorce. So, it's best getting it right from the beginning. The question now is if one made the wrong choice, what happens? This is where separation comes in and not Divorce. The man or woman can be separated from the wife or husband till the opposite partner is restored or certain traits addressed through therapy and the likes.

So, the summary of everything still stands God hates divorce but there can be separation especially in life threatening circumstances till the opposite partner is restored to the norm in a marriage.

More anointing MOG ,but I feel if God hates divorce, we should do everything within the best of our ability to avoid it, now how do u avoid it, it begins in courtship, it is better to court your spouse as long as it takes u to know him or her better without sexual immorality, so that u won't be confused, then you need to take it to God in prayer, God can not give you a spouse that will make you feel less human, make sure u hear from God properly before going into marriage, don't allow physical looks or wealth to decieve you,if u involve God from the beginning he will help u maintain a blissful home throughout your lifetime, so I prefer I don't marry the wrong person than divorcing him or her later after he or she has seen enough of my unclothedness

My suggestion: If your marriage is going sideways.. irreconcilable.. before they say pesin kee pesin.. quit the marriage and move on with your life and be happy.. at the last day, explain your decision to God Almighty.

( this is one of the many reasons I advise women to have a handwork, skill, sth doing, lots of women are trapped in marriage because when they leave, they will be broke)

Divorce is allowed according to the Bible, although it is not the initial plan of God. Any divorce that is not on the foundation of fornication by the other partner, you are not allowed to remarry because it will be adultery against the other partner. And anyone that marries the other partner is also commiting adultery. Also if you are married to an unbeliever and he/she separates from you, you are free to remarry as you are not under any curse.
