In a release on its official Twitter page, the Law firm of Olaniwun Ajayi LP announced that its has successfully prosecuted the case against the controversial gossip merchant in suit number FCT/CV/667/2018: Mrs Ajibola Ajayi v. Linda Ikeji before an FCT Abuja High court.

In the court case, the Mrs Ajibola Ajayi had sued Ms. Linda Ikeji in respect of the defamatory article published in the latter’s blog, on 15.01.17 and 17.01.17 which cited Mrs. Ajibola Ajayi as having described protesting students of the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, Ogbomoso, as a “generation of mannerless children” in an Instagram post with the username “conceited_csj”.

Ajibola Ajayi is the daughter of late former governor of Oyo state, Abiola Ajimobi

In the judgment delivered on 12.04.2022, the Court held that the publication by Ms. Ikeji was false and malicious and that the evidence before the Court showed that the Defendant knew that the Instagram account with the username “conceited_csj” did not belong to the Claimant.

The Court further held that the publication was made available to readers worldwide which exposed the Claimant to ridicule by members of the public who read the offending article.

In reiterating the trite principle of law that libel is actionable per se, the Court awarded general and exemplary damages in the sum of N25,000,000.00 (Twenty-Five Million Naira) against Ms. Linda Ikeji and directed Ms. Ikeji to publish a written apology to the Claimant in three National tabloids.

You want to delay ad infinitum with one of the biggest law firms in Nigeria with over 100 legal practitioner who have more than enough evidence against you? You are a learner.

Read the case of Wole Soyinka vs Alhaji Olufemi Okunnu who was an ex commissioner during Nigerian military regime. Read it extensively and also mind the fact that soyinka was not as wealthy as linda ikeji.

After reading the case extensively, jst go and argue with your mates.

If you had applied common logic, you would have made more sense than writing these verbose piece without achieving any semblance of coherence.

So because the plaintiff litigated via a big law firm, then the judge should be obliged to turn justice on its head in order to defer to the law firm?

The point I was making - which is very obvious - is that the verdict as given so far will not survive further and detailed legal scrutiny in a higher court.

The defence counsels will dissect the case and canvas convincing arguments against which will leave another judge with no option other to quash it or award minimal damages to any established injury.

The judicial system does not work by wishful thinking...

Defamation in law is a falsehood aimed at cursing harm.

Jada had a condition which she told the whole world. She even did a video on it on Instagram.

What Chris rock said is not defamation plus he did not even mock her, he only wanted her to feel comfortable with the condition by describing her with G.I , a movie character that looks like her.

Will Smith has mental issues same with his wife. Such people cant take a joke.
