In my opinion, Osibanjo will be a hard sell to APC and Nigerians in general. Unless Buhari uses Gestapo style rigging, it will be impossible to get Osibanjo elected as president. He just does not have the political capital. Osibanjo has zero political structure to win any election, even local government chairmanship election.

The South South and South East will not accept another Yoruba president at this time. If Buhari imposes Osibanjo as APC's presidential candidate, Tinubu and his formidable political machinery would frustrate him and APC at the general elections. I don't even see the middle belt supporting Osibanjo.

To me Buhari's best bet is Amaechi. It's still difficult, but I am sure Tinubu would rather support Amaechi than Osibanjo. Amaechi had built a political bridge with the north in his years as governor and as transport minister.

Nairaland is obviously going to the dogs. How did this thrash make it to the front page?

Point of correction, Oyetola was not the Secretary but Akpan Udedeghen. But that doesn't change the facts that the Chairman remains the alter ego of any association, he has the veto power and no one over ride his decision of a Chairman. Only those that has been a member of an association will understand that. Secondly, APC has no constitutional role for his Secretary other than the one assigned to him by the chairman, and singing of some documents.

It was Ameachi,later Oshibojo,then Jonathan now Sylvia .I don't know why they over rating cabal in Aso Villa like this .can one tell who Also Villa Cabal had even won any presidential election for since this political dispensation? Cabal has power on the disision making in Aso Villa but they don't have power to win election for any president. If they have the power Jonathan cabal in Aso Villa would have won election for him. The only two people with political capital to win the APC primary on their own is Tinubu and to some extent Amaechi (if Tinubu is sidelined by executive power). Osibanjo had not been able to use his position as a vice president to build political capital and alliances because of his fear of Tinubu. He is starting too late.

Amaechi might be on top of the list, the cabal are sensitive to the fact that the south south zone never voted APC across board in the two previous general election. How sensible to give presidency to a zone that makes little or no sacrifice in enthroning Bubu.
