Ibrahim Magu Forwards Retirement Notice by politicoNG(op): 5:11pm On Apr 23, 2022
Ibrahim Magu, a former acting chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has forwarded his retirement notice to the police authorities in preparation for his retirement, DAILY NIGERIAN reliably gathered.

Born on May 5, 1962, Mr Magu will retire on May 5, 2022 after attaining 60 years of age.

He was enlisted into the Nigeria Police Force as cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police, ASP on March 3, 1990 and rose to the rank of Commissioner of Police on April 18, 2018.

Mr Magu, who has not been posted to any formation since his dramatic arrest and ouster as EFCC on July 6, 2020, is currently the most senior police commissioner.

In July last year, his elevation to the rank of Assistant Inspector General of Police was declined by the Police Service Commission, PSC, “pending clearance from the office of the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice and the Office of the Inspector General of Police.”

On November 20, 2020, President Muhammadu Buhari received the report of the Ayo Salami-led presidential panel set up to investigate Mr Magu, but the outcome of the report is still not made public.

In February last year, the Senate confirmed the nomination of Abdulrasheed Bawa by President Muhammadu Buhari as the substantive chairman of the EFCC, ending the possibility of Mr Magu’s return.

The propensity this government has for corruption and shielding corrupt officials is out of this world. Ibrahim Magu who is supposed to be cooling his heels in Kuje prison was once still in active service despite his indictment by a panel. We are finished in this part of our world!
