Very bad. Imagine not being at peace at home or work because of a badly constructed building you're living in. Most of this poorly built storey buildings in Lagos needs to be checked...

So many buildings in Lagos island are constructed poorly and look very old and weak but NOBODY checks the lifespan or current state of such buildings. It is when they collapse that we start blaming contractors only. Building regulators too should share the blame.

In addition, even when the building shows signs of weakness like cracks along the foundation and so on,the owners and occupants don't care or pay attention.

Another thing i noticed when I visited that area is that there is no space between most buildings. You will see 2 multi storey buildings built side by side. You can even cross from your window into another person's apartment.

I think Lagos State government needs to be proactive in checking that construction standards are met and that weak structures are demolished to avoid this from happening.

It is better to be proactive than to keep loosing lives every time.

I had to move out from the rubbish building I was staying before this rain started. I just dey pity d crowd wey dey stay there now. After they marked it for demolition, bribery took place and the building still dey there.

The construction industry in this country is rubbish.

Ask yourself, how many buildings have collapsed in other parts of the country in the past 2 years?

Na only Lagos?

Aren't people constructing in other parts of the country?

Lagos needs extensive soil tests and classification into zones, with a strict code for foundation construction in each zone.

The proem is peculiar to Lagos for a reason. That reason must be stamped out.

91% NO. Those houses in Lagos island isn't strong. Buildings marrying themselves, no way for ventilation. again; 2bags of cement for one tipper of sand. Very crowded,noisy, dirty,gutter smelling place. Most Painful part, rooms there are small and very expensive. I'm talking of the main Lagos island o..not obalende,ikoyi, vi or lekki.
