NATO had no Interest in admitting Ukraine anytime soon.
Admission to NATO requires unanimous Consent, and France, Germany, Italy and the US would never have consented at this time. This is common knowledge and common sense.

At the end of the day, Putin can not keep Ukraine apart from the same restive regions along his border, he'll remain crippled economically, politically and socially, the West will now get to fortify Ukraine's defenses with the best weapons from the top to bottom, superior anti-missile systems, satellites, intelligence, military training and so on, something they did not get to do before the war, but thanks to Putin, he changed Ukraine forever, he practically handed Ukraine to the West.

The West will rebuild Ukraine, make it a stronger and powerful Nation, well protected and fortified with security assistance and guarantees,, more EU Nations will join NATO, more EU nations from Germany and beyond increased their defense budgets, and more weapons and support are flowing into the EU, more NATO troops are now within the EU.

Putin gained nothing from this war, maybe the opposite of what he foolishly imagined, the foolish man did not expect the Ukrainians to fight to the death to defend their land and their people, he expected a very quick few days of war with Ukrainians running or surrendering to his imaginary powerful and now exposed worthless and incompetent military.
