I would say yes. At least I got a lecturing position from outside Uk. A PhD with good research track record will be key

Completing the PhD and being able to showcase good research pedigree would be an advantage. The entry level lecturing roles in UK require a PhD most times.

New UK visa exempts Nigerian university graduates

The United Kingdom is set to begin issuance of a new visa that allows holders of first degrees, masters, and doctorates to travel to the country and work in fields such as science, technology, innovation, and entrepreneurship by May 30.

The visa – high potential individual visa, allows applicants to relocate to the UK without a prior job offer or sponsorship. Meanwhile, some of the requirements exempted those who graduated from Nigerian universities.

The UK government had said that in order to qualify for the HPI visa, applicants needed to have been awarded a degree from an overseas university. The university has to be one of the top global universities as published in the global universities list by the Home Office.

The government noted that the list would be compiled annually and would comprise institutions included in the list of the top 50 universities in at least two of the following ranking systems: Times Higher Education World University rankings, Quacquarelli Symonds World University rankings, and the Academic Ranking of the World Universities.

Also, the applicants must have been awarded a degree, equivalent to or not less than a UK bachelor’s degree.

Meanwhile, checks showed that Nigerian universities do not appear in any of these global rankings.

The UK had been one of the choice destinations for many Nigerians seeking to relocate abroad for academic and work purposes

Pray tell,
What do we bring to the table that can be termed "exceptional"? Our Universities do not qualify to the category producing "global talents". It does not mean global talents are not emerging but our system is not the one producing them. Its a simple truth.

Saw this on Gain Healthcare Page on Facebook and decided to share.

For clarity (this post isn’t just for those in Zimbabwe as we receive applications from Nigeria, Namibia,
Malawi, Kenya, etc)

1. Our admin fees are refundable if you don’t qualify (but we won’t accept any admin fees unless you actually meet our criteria and you have interviews well)

2. Our admin fees are fully refundable after you have worked the full duration of your working visa. (This is our thank you for your service)

The reasons these fees are in place, is how much we have have to invest in each candidate. Yet we are at a risk of losing the candidate anytime if they choose. This is our way of protecting the “contract”:

The above is what big companies like the NHS etc have in place and it’s called an exit clause.

Admin fees cover :

1. Document verification
2. Administrative work (calls etc)
3. Training (£400 deduction if you already have our training)
4. Accomodation
5. Company car
6. Insurance
7. Fuel
8. Food
9. DBS
10. Practical training
11. Uniforms
12. ID badges
13. PPE

It costs a lot to recruit a candidate and we are finding that care work is not for everyone. Some struggle to do the job when they arrive. So they decide to leave “as long as they are in the UK” some say.

Please be advised. Only apply if you truly understand the terms and conditions. Please be prepared to go through the full process and be patient as the process is via a mutli team. We have no control over the time scales of visa, home office, etc.

Requirements are :

1. IELTS test
2. Driving license
3. Training
4. TB test
5. Covid vaccines
6. Police clearance
7. Hep B vaccine

Kindly apply if you have the requirements.

Hello Japa Family

Please how best can I book for an Urgent TB test in Lagos.
I sent them an email on Friday but no reply.

What do you think I can do that will be effective. I need it done by this week.
Note: I'll have to travel down to Lagos if at all.
So I don't see walking in as an option if only that would work.

Please help.
