A coalition of Northern groups on Monday arrived at the International Conference Centre in Abuja to purchase the All Progressives Congress’ presidential nomination and expression of interest forms for former President Goodluck Jonathan.

Sporting fez caps with the inscription ‘run Jonathan run’, members of the coalition said Jonathan is the most qualified to succeed President Muhammadu Buhari.

Although Jonathan isn’t a member of the APC, speculations have intensified in recent weeks that he is set to switch from the Peoples Democratic Party to contest for President in 2023.

Isnt it obvious they are simply circumventing the Electoral Law that limits campaign spending to 1 billion through crowd funding

Most are simply buying form to donate money so that EFCC can let them be when APC wins again

President Goodluck Jonathan will be squandering all the goodwill, love, sympathy, trust and hopes he has garnered over the period of his public service if he goes ahead to, as much as fill those booklets of blackmail passed off as nomination forms.

Many have long held the opinion that Jonathan is a self-centered, treacherous, faithless and opportunistic fellow. One could remember how he abandoned the PDP, almost as soon as he lost power. Even the PDP in his home State of Bayelsa continued tottering on the edges, and was on the verge of losing the governorship before a documentation error by the APC Deputy governorship candidate gifted the seat to the Party.

Many believe he is a good gentleman who might succumb to the pressure of some cabals to run for the presidency, so that he would save his wife and one of his closest allies, Diezani Madueke from EFCC and a possible time in jail.

Some believe he is merely a weakling who does not have a mind of his own and could be unknowingly dragged out and messed up by the same cabal. Even if this cabal is really sincere about using the Otuoke man to rob the Southeast of their right to produce the next President of Nigeria and the South of having a full eight years tenure, I am sure Nigerians will reject him. Yes, they will do everything to rig him in, but he will leave that office, a disgraced man. It might not matter to him after all. But, it will eventually matter.
