On May 9, President of Ukraine Volodimir Zelensky congratulated the Ukrainian people on the Day of Victory over Nazism, sharing photos of Ukrainian soldiers with Nazi patches.

The first photo on the official page of the President on the social networks showed a soldier with a patch of the 3rd SS Panzer Division “Deadhead”. It turned out that the fighter was member of the volunteer formation of the “Right Sector”.

“On the Day of Victory over Nazism, we are fighting for a new victory.” – the text under the photos reads.

The post was later edited and the photo was deleted.

No photos or videos of the dead officers or even their burials. Just noise. While they make Ukraine look good on the internet, we should remember that the war is not happening on the internet.

Sadly, youths of nowadays don't read , na to dey abuse each other on Nairaland dem sabi or be saying our government is bad and I wonder what kind of leaders they want to grow up to become in future. See as you tell the story like say you dey dia when it happened that time . I really love this. Do you know till today, the majority of traditional Germans don't like America for their role in WW2? Each time I visit Germany, my partners always say this. If you meet a German for the first time eg, a taxi man and you speak English to him, even though they understand and can speak, they'd not respond. But by the way you begin to make friends with them, you'd be shocked how fluent they are in English. I once asked one of them...but why don't you like speaking in English and he said, he hates Americans and that's why he doesn't like speaking in English

On putin mata, it's like saying whom God has blessed, no man can curse. He's trying to flex muscle with the number one country and the world leader. No be by mouth, anyone who had visited West Point( I've been there) before would know America is super rich in military hardware and weapons yet, they don't make mouth about it. Salute to them! Food for thought — Baghdad is 4,158 km from US soil and US forces took Baghdad in 6 days. Kiev is 380 km from Russian soil and 75 days later, they still haven’t conquered it.

After being in Kuwait for 8 months , Iraq for 7 years, and Afghanistan for 20 years the US only lost one general. Less than 10 died over 10 years in Vietnam. Russia has lost more in less than 3 months than all the names wars combined.

Strategy of Russia can never measure up to that of the US. This is not surprising though. Military budget of both countries below:

Vladimir Putin has reportedly lost his 39th and 40th colonels in the Ukraine war, adding to Russia’s mounting losses in the conflict.

Lieutenant Colonel Alexander Blinov’s death was confirmed on Monday, when a photo emerged of his picture on a grave in Volgograd, south-western Russia.


Russian officials had previously denied that the colonel, who served as a commander in a motorised rifle unit, had been killed.

Mr Blinov was a married father-of-three and a family friend confirmed the news to a local paper, saying: “Unfortunately, today it became known about the death of my friend Sasha Blinov in Ukraine. For us, it’s just a shock.”

He would be the 40th colonel to have died in the war.

That news came after the reported death of Russia’s 39th colonel, Fezul Bichikaev - an elite soldier who allegedly died on a secret intelligence mission.

A military expert, Oleg Marzoev, reportedly told a local news website that Mr Bichikaev acted with “self-sacrifice and heroism”.

He was one of Russia’s youngest colonels and was killed near Kharkiv, local media reported.

Earlier, it was reported that Lieutenant Colonel Fyodor Evgenievich Solovyov had become the 38th Russian colonel to have died in the war in Ukraine.


A Russian report said that the 44-year-old was a commander of a howitzer self-propelled artillery regiment and that he was awarded the Order of Courage.


Russia’s battlefield losses and demonstrable operational failings stopped President Putin from announcing a success in the war at the Victory Day parade, the British defence ministry has claimed.

“Russia’s underestimation of Ukrainian resistance and its ‘best case scenario’ planning have led to demonstrable operational failings, preventing President Putin from announcing significant military success in Ukraine at the 9 May Victory Day parade,” the ministry claimed in an intelligence update.


It added that Russia’s invasion plan was “highly likely” to have been based on the assumption that it would encounter limited resistance during the invasion of Ukraine.
