In 1999, consideration of zoning made Nigerians acquiesce in having two Yoruba presidential aspirants to fly the presidential flags of the two largest political parties. One of them won and made sure he handed over to a northern presidential candidate considering zoning.

Tinubu and Osinbajo do not accept that the Igbo politicians who also coformed APC are also entitled to preside over Nigeria.

Tinubu and Osinbajo shall both fail in their presidential ambitions.

Contesting party primaries (PDP) for the 1999 presidential election was a full Southern affair. While the PDP primaries for the 2003 re-election of Obasanjo was a national affair (Ekwueme again, Rimi, and Gemade), and the presidential election itself was also a national affair with Buhari of ANPP and Ojukwu of APGA.

If you wake up from sleep and they tell you that Obasanjo who was in prison when Ekwueme formed PDP, defeated Ekwueme in free and fair primaries of PDP, you will not believe that.

What happened was that Nigerians had already formed a consensus for a Yoruba to succeed the northerner, Abdulsalami Abubakar. Ekwueme and others contesting against Obasanjo were merely formalizing the PDP primaries then as a contest.
